We have tried up to 38k4 on AO-51. There are currently only a small handful of users with this capability, so it is not often used.

Hi, thank you very much for the clarification. I asked about 96kbps because I thought it was a new mode, compared to the original specs of the AO-51, but if it is only 9600 bps, then I am much relieved. Of course I am ok with referring to this as a 9k6 and 9.6K, so if someone used 9.6kbps and the "decimal" was dropped, that is perhaps how the incorrect nomenclature came into usage.
However, to continue that thought, the GMSK modem onboard the AO-51 is capable I think of many higher baudrates. Is there a definitive list of modulation/data rates that have been used so far ? From the published AMSAT Journal articles that I have on hand, the baud rate possible is 300 bps to 56 kbps.
Any suggestions ?

I assume this talk from several people of a 96k BBS started as a typo and has taken on a life of its own. You mean 9k6 right?
