I highly recommend recording the audio.
That way if you have issues decoding during TX you can always replay to the decoder later. Also you can try different decoders and settings to see which produces the best image.

His web page has a beginner section and live sstv capture worldwide. Transmission is on 145.800 and MMSSTV automatically finds the format being used.
