AMSAT-BB, a return to normalcy!
I have tried to provide a little leniency in the discussion on the AMSAT-BB, but there are certain individuals who seem to think this is their personal soapbox. There are currently 2,069 subscribed users to the AMSAT-BB, a far cry from the number signed up two years ago. So, where have they all gone? They came, like most, to celebrate the art of amateur radio satellites. Instead, they were faced with a deluge of hateful attacks. The AMSAT-BB is not a free-fire zone, where you can hurl insults to make yourself feel better. This is a discussion forum with a specific purpose. The Acceptable Use Policy for the AMSAT Public Mailing Lists (AUP) (amsat.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/AMSAT_AUP_061819.pdf) clearly defines what is and what is not acceptable content. If you forgot, then do us all a favor and reread the policy and follow it. Your participation on this mailing list is a privilege, not a right. Please remember this. - Offer something positive that benefits the community. - Be considerate of others - Remember there are people of all ages/experience on this forum I will be removing those subscribers who fail to adhere to the policy, to include those discussions attacking AMSAT. To the other 2,060ish subscribers, I deeply apologize that you have had to endure this for this long and promise to restore the AMSAT-BB to a more focused and constructive discussion on satellite operations. How many people were on it two years ago?
I understand the desire to limit certain types of communications. I also think we should be allowed to discuss matters pertinent to AMSAT as an organization beyond satellite operations.

I think it would be beneficial to have a list for "political" AMSAT threads, unrelated to designing/launching/working satellites.
I suggest attaching -NA to the end of it, so that -DL, -UK, etc. aren't caught up in this mess.
Flame wars could then roam free across that list, and the rest of us could simply not subscribe to it. You can count me as user #1, if you'd like.

Have you ever heard of "moderation"? As in you get to approve their posts rather than the (to my mind) draconian first step of "removing"?
Seems like this is an example of just what "those subscribers" have been harping about in the powers-that-be at AMSAT.
