This morning I received an email from KE4AL notifying me that the Bylaws have been adopted because only 7 members sent in written objections.
I sent a written objection to the address listed on the original notice mailing (712 H Street NE), via certified mail, and the mailing is still listed as "awaiting delivery scan".
Was my objection received?

That brings up a good point. I also sent in a letter of objection. How do I know if it was even counted or read? Steve Kristoff AI9IN ----- Original Message ----- From: Roy Dean (royldean@gmail.com) Date: 05/11/21 08:35 To: amsat-bb@amsat.org Subject: [AMSAT-BB] Bylaws Adopted

I bet you have to send in another registered letter. :)
Clearly, Amsat is flawed in its political structure since they do not really listen to the membership and until there is a house cleaning at the top, this will continue.
I don't mind paying a membership fee to support the hobby and the technology, but the more I talk to those in the know who really understand what is going on politically, I refuse to renew my membership.
If you are of similar thought and feel that you are not being heard then you may wish to consider doing the same thing. That is a personal decision of course.
I could use some pretty strong words at this point, but I refrain from doing so. 'They' have to understand who the customer is (aka, the membership) but from my perspective, that is lost on the executive. I welcome them to prove otherwise. Please!

You mean those who voted for the current board are ignorant?
That’s kinda insulting, isn’t it?

Not really. They may simply be uninformed or misinformed. That wouldn't be their fault, now would it? 73 Ray

Ray, agreed. Just like the people that voted against them are not ignorant either.
One of the main reasons people voted for them was due to the campaign promising a HEO satellite. As far as I recall I never saw them running on a platform in which they offered to change the by-laws, much less to put in place a by-law that can be used to "cancel" people that they would consider "undesirable". This is a dangerous trend considering past actions where the upper-echelon even used the corporation's financial resources to seek legal advice because someone criticized (or as they called it "harassed") one of their own.
Yes, I still remember the expenditure on "legal advice related to the harassment of Drew Glasbrenner by Patrick Stoddard".

As I have written previously, the newly adopted bylaws are not consistent with Article FIfth of the Articles of Incorporation, in that they purport to give the Board powers that the Articles do not, e.g., the expulsion of a member for any reason other than nonpayment of dues, or rejection of a membership application that was submitted in good form If the Board attempts to use any of these new "powers", anything they do from that point forward is null and void., If the present Board disagrees with this, I would like to see a written legal opinion from a member of the D.C. bar to that effect. I'd be happy to discuss payment of the associated legal fee, off line. 73 Ray W2RS

I join Ray Soifer in this opinion. We cannot have scofflaws as officers and board members and this corporation survive.
