Having an issue with a newer Yaesu 5500DC.... the new one with the DC motor in it. After I get everything up it seems to be backward in both el and az. I would imagine I will have to bring it down but maybe a simple fix if I have the wires backward.... Yes it seemed fine before I took it outside.
So anyone have a link to or a schematic for this controller/rotors. I have one for the plain 5500 but there are less wires now so need the DC model schematic.

I had the same “problem”. The antennas are on “backwards” by that I mean when you run the motor watch how it turns. I was thinking I had the same problem. The rotor was inverted and the antennas were off (rotated) by 180 degrees.

Wouldn't clockwise still be clockwise regardless? I can see the elevation being backward but not the azimuth.

I also had that problem with a used older G-5400... the previous owner had mounted the azimuth rotor upside-down, so it rotated in the opposite direction. (poor design, that the bolt size and spacing were the same for the mast mounting bracket and the elevation rotor bracket...)
And, as Herb mentioned, mounting the antennas to the boom pointed south at 0 degrees elevation when the controller azimuth is actually north (or vice versa) will cause them to appear to move in the wrong direction in elevation.

I never thought of the azimuth rotor upside down? I thought there was some lettering on it which way was up? I would think water entering the rotor would be a big problem also.
