Mine has been in the air for about 16 years, until this year, I have not had any problem. However, I am into it for the second time this year, the first time because the brake locked up on the Azmiuth rotator, the second time because the motor failure, same rotator. I am now in the process of rewinding the coils of the motor.

Yeasu does say, they are maintenance free, how ever I don't trust that due to the 4 seasons, that could happen in one day where I live.
