Does anyone know if the Chinese knockoffs (COM-232B or USB-232B) are suitable replacements for the GS-232B AZ-EL rotator controllers? If not, is there anything more economical than the GS-232B, yet equally functional?
Thanks, Mike, AA9VI
I use a fox delta st2:
https://www.foxdelta.com/products/st2-rs232.htm
Works great and was pretty cheap.

I agree with Eric.
Many of us have had really great success with the FoxDelta ST2 controller, at about $500 cheaper than the GS-232B.
It works very well.

With the Csn sat tracker you don’t need the Gs-232b any more. It connects directly to your rotator controller

You missed one. The CSN Technologies S.A.T. I've been doing sats since the 1970's, and there is nothing else like it.
With an IC-9700 and G-5500, you don't need anything else (except a PC or an iPhone to control it wirelessly). It tracks, it dopplers, it shows the next passes for your selected favorite sats. TLEs are updated at the push of a button. It memorizes RITs for each sat. It makes operating the sats a no-brainer. All for under $200.
The only thing I use SatPC32 for now is predicting footprints.

Hi all, I see no mention of the LabJack U12 plus Piggyback. And I see no mention of the LabJack U3 plus Piggyback. The Piggyback is a USB/rotor interface. The whole system is thus the computer talks to the U12 via the USB port. The U12 also talks to the rotor control box (in my case a Yaesu G-5400B) via the 8 pin DIN socket. Details for the LabJack U12 can be found at: U12 | LabJackand for the LabJack U3 at: U3 | LabJack I have 2 of the U12s. My first one I got over 20 years ago and at the time the U12 Piggyback was available through Northern Lights Software Associates (Nova for Windows). Unfortunately Northern Lights Software no longer supports Nova (now for free) and thus no Piggyback through them. For all I know, NLSA might actually be out of business. But if you want to build the Piggyback (which I did for my spare U12 that I loan out to any of the ARISS schools that I mentor who might need one), then go to the SatPC32 webpage and download the schematic for the U12 or U3. For the U12: lj_piggyback.JPG (1012×580) (dk1tb.de) and for the U3: lj_piggyback_u3.JPG (1028×584) (dk1tb.de). For my U12 Piggyback that I built, it probably cost me less than $20. All I can say is that the U12 + Piggyback works just great for Nova or SatPC32 and I have had no issues. Just another interface to consider. 73,Charlie Sufana AJ9NOne of the ARISS Mentors In a message dated 2022-08-16 19:17:15 Eastern Standard Time, johnbrier@gmail.com writes: http://sats.wikidot.com/what-yaesu-g-5550-rotor-computer-interfaces-are-ther...
