There is nothing as depressing as a 2 minute silence at the start of the pass... Later explained by NASA as the ISS radio receiver being on the wrong channel.

A student at a Leesburg area middle school has approached my local club for help with an ARISS contact proposal. I'm the club's satellite guy, so the club president asked if I'm interested in helping.
I am interested, I'd like to hear from folks who e supported a contact what amount of involvement I can expect to have to provide. I know there's a lot of preparation and advance coordination required. I have a copy of the proposal guide and have started reading it. The interested student and parent will be at our club's meeting Saturday; I'll get more information then.
