Image credit: NASA Flight Engineer Mikhail Tyurin continued work setting up a laptop computer designed to command satellite navigation aids for the rendezvous of the Automated Transfer Vehicle, the European unpiloted cargo craft, later this year. The crew conducted periodic emergency fire drill training and Flight Engineer Sunita Williams began practicing Rendezvous Pitch Maneuver photography. Flight controllers loaded new software into a data relay box for the P3 Solar Alpha Rotary Joint (SARJ) on Tuesday. An initial attempt Monday was not successful. All P3 SARJ-related systems are operating normally with new, improved software. On Feb. 27, the International Space Station Independent Safety Task Force issued its final report. I could not find any local frequencies that have an Echolink node. She was doing very well and could have answered a few more questions. I thought she might tune to our frequencies after the contact but that did not happen.

An International Space Station Expedition 14 ARISS school contact has been planned with students at Mission Viejo High School, Mission Viejo, California on 08 March. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 16:38 UTC. The contact will be a direct between stations NA1SS and K6UCI. The contact should be audible in the Western and central North America. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The participants are expected to conduct the conversation in English. Mission Viejo High School is a comprehensive high school servicing students grades 9-12. MVHS, one of five high schools in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District, was the first high school in the district and admitted its first classes in 1966. The school is located in South Orange County and draws basically from middle-class and upper middle-class families. Approximately 88% of the school's population will enroll in a college/university after graduation. Students will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1. What are some of the scientific goals for your mission? 2. How do you feel waning public interest in space exploration has affected NASA's programs and space missions? 3. As a fellow scholar in the science of the heavens, what advice would you have as far as education is concerned during my collegiate career? 4. What do you do for leisure in the International Space Station? Are there books to read, movies to watch, music to listen to? 5. What is your next goal as a futuristic space explorer after having set the US record for space walks? 6. What is your favorite memory from Mission Viejo High School? 7. I hear that you are a big movie buff... If you could recommend one romantic and one comedic film what would they be? 8. How and where do you sleep in space? 9. As a freshman at a big high school, it is common to feel very small. Now that you appear to be the bigger object from where you are in space, what does Mission Viejo High School appear to look like? 10. What made you interested in becoming an astronaut? 11. Do you feel your dream of being an astronaut has been fulfilled now that you are in space? Is space everything you dreamed it to be? 12. If you were to go back to high school and start your career over still knowing what you do now, would you choose a different career or become an astronaut again? 13. Help needed calibrating Nova, GS-232B, G5400B

Hi all, One of the schools I am mentoring for an upcoming ARISS contact is having trouble getting Nova, a Yaesu GS-232B control box, and a Yaesu G5400B az/el rotor to work properly. If anyone has experience with this exact combination, please let me know ASAP. The main questions concern calibration.
