An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Oshkosh Air Venture Air Show, Oshkosh, Wisconsin on 01 Aug. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 17:01 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between NA1SS and AH6NM. The contact should be audible over Hawaii and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. With 500,000 visitors to EAA's AirVenture each year and a student membership of more than 20,000, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is a gateway to aerospace for many young people. The young people who will be present for the contact with the space station are very diverse and reflect the range of people who are active in our organization. This includes a large group of 125 young women and their mentors as part of WomenSoar, where young women can find amazing opportunities with aerospace. We will also have groups from aviation high schools from Florida and California participating in the ham radio contact with the ISS crew. And finally there are additional attendees of all ages who will listen and participate with great interest. The EAA believes that inspiring the next generation is work worth doing. We believe in working to grow interest by sharing compelling, real life stories of people who have found rewarding careers and lifestyles through Aerospace. We hope to grow participation in aviation and space and all of its related areas through this once in a lifetime opportunity to talk with astronauts in space and the folks we will have with us on the ground. The ARISS contact will be one amazing way to help these outstanding students reach that goal. Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1. What was the most valuable piece of advice you received from another astronaut about going into space? 2. What contributions to society do you feel you are making with the work you are doing on the space station? 3. What was your favorite thing that came up with the last Progress re- supply? (or When Progress shows up what are you looking forward to?) 4. What has been your most interesting experiment you have worked on in space? 5. What sort of communication barriers are there with the diverse crew? How do you get past them? 6. What sort of leisure activities are being done on the ISS with the current occupants? Is anyone playing the guitar Chris Hadfield made famous? 7. Do solar flares have any effect on the space station power? What do you do to avoid problems? 8. Have there been any mishaps or accidents while you have been in space? 9. What will be accomplished by using the international space station? 10. Besides missing family and friends, what has been the biggest adjustment to being in space? 11. When you look at Earth, what details are you able to make out? 12. What personal items did you bring with you to the space station? 13. How often do you have contact with people other than Mission Control? 14. Do you have an internet connection? 15. How often does the space station have to adjust it's orbit, and what reasons does it have to adjust? 16. How long did it take you to feel comfortable moving around in weightlessness? 17. Do you have any personal experiments you are conducting - if so, what are they? 18. How do you cut your hair or shave without hair going everywhere? 19. How do you clean your clothes, and how often do you have to do it? 20. What are you looking forward to upon your return to earth? Please join us in listening to the following telebridge ISS contacts: Italian Bilingual School, Leichhardt (Sydney), NSW, Australia. On Tuesday 30 July AOS is anticipated at 0826 UTC. This will be a telebridge and the Ground Station will be VK5ZAI. The contact is expected to be conducted in Italian. Space Jam 7 at the Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum, Rantoul, IL on Saturday 3 August AOS is anticipated at 2046 UTC. This will be a telebridge and the ground station will be LU8YY. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. Audio from this contact will be fed into the EchoLink *AMSAT* (101377) and *JK1ZRW* (277208) servers. IRLP Node 9010 Streaming on the web at: https://sites.google.com/site/arissaudio/ Audio for Echolink and Web is generally transmitted around 20 minutes prior to the contact taking place so that you can hear some of the preparation that occurs. ARISS Contact - Wednesday

Please join us in listening to the ISS contact with participants at the *ESA Space Camp 2013, Radstadt, Austria* on Wednesday 24 July. AOS is anticipated at 11:44 UTC The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between NA1SS and VK5ZAI in South Australia. The contact should be audible over Australia and the Pacific. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. The European Space Agency (ESA )space Camp 2013 will be held in Austria at ‘JugendhotelBachlehen’, 70 km away from Mozart’s city of Salzburg, from Sunday 14 July to Sunday 28 July 2013. 165 children aged 8 to 17 years old will be participating in this annual space camp from every ESA establishment in Europe where their parents are working. The children will learn in the spirit of international cooperation and team work to be young space explorers. The theme of this year’s camp is Space Exploration and during the 2 week of the camp the children will be participating in a range of physical and cultural activities which will include space education. The space education programme will encourage the children problem solve how to get to Mars. Designing a landing system for a rover.The exploration challenges they face will be based on carrying out practical ideas to solve these challenges. How do we get the rover to Mars – design and construct your rockets and test them with different payloads. Navigation and communication exercises will enable the payload to land in the right place. On Landing what kinds of aliens will they find? By looking at the biodiversity in extreme environments on Earth they can think about and design a possible Martian life form – how does this compare to those they found on Earth? Food is going to be important on a long space flight – what kinds of foods will be important and what will they taste like. How will they preserve food? The ARISS contact will give the children a chance to talk to a crew member on the ISS and enhance their space experience. Audio from this contact will be fed into the: EchoLink *AMSAT* (101377) IRLP Node 9010 Discovery Reflector Streaming Audio at: https://sites.google.com/site/arissaudio/ Audio on Echolink & web stream is generally transmitted around 20 minutes prior to the contact taking place so that you can hear some of the preparation that occurs. IRLP will begin just prior to the ground station call to the ISS. Please note that on Echolink there are automatic breaks of 1.5 seconds in the audio transmission. These occur every 2.5 minutes during the event. Breaks on IRLP are manual and occur approximately after every third question. ** Contact times are approximate. There are three contacts scheduled for Monday 22 July, one actual and two terrestrial training contacts as follows: *Scuola Italiana di Montevideo, Montevideo, Uruguay* on Monday July 22nd, AOS is anticipated at 1139 UTC The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between NA1SS and VK5ZAI in South Australia. The contact should be audible over Australia and the Pacific. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in Italian. The SIM is a prestigious educational institution in Uruguay, which has a history of 125 years of uninterrupted work. Provides educational services covering all cycles from the Nursery School to High School. Its building infrastructure is established in an area of over 13 hectares, with large green spaces and vast locations closed and open. Our organization has achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification for the "Design and provision of education for all school years" is the only private educational institution in the country that has achieved this award. Radio contact between Houston and Leuven is established over IRLP (Internet Radio Linking Project), a worldwide amateur radio network linking local amateur repeater stations. IRLP stations are operating in VHF and UHF frequency bands. Belgium counts two main Regions : Flanders in the North and Wallonia in the South. Flanders is a Dutch speaking Region and Wallonia is a French speaking Region. Leuven is in Flanders. The city is famous for its Catholic University, founded in 1425. An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at ESA Space Camp 2013, Radstadt, Austria on 24 July. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 11:44 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between NA1SS and VK4KHZ. The contact should be audible over Australia and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. The European Space Agency (ESA )space Camp 2013 will be held in Austria at 'JugendhotelBachlehen', 70 km away from Mozart's city of Salzburg, from Sunday 14 July to Sunday 28 July 2013. 165 children aged 8 to 17 years old will be participating in this annual space camp from every ESA establishment in Europe where their parents are working. The children will learn in the spirit of international cooperation and team work to be young space explorers. The theme of this year's camp is Space Exploration and during the 2 week of the camp the children will be participating in a range of physical and cultural activities which will include space education. The space education programme will encourage the children problem solve how to get to Mars. Designing a landing system for a rover.The exploration challenges they face will be based on carrying out practical ideas to solve these challenges. How do we get the rover to Mars - design and construct your rockets and test them with different payloads. Navigation and communication exercises will enable the payload to land in the right place. On Landing what kinds of aliens will they find? By looking at the biodiversity in extreme environments on Earth they can think about and design a possible Martian life form - how does this compare to those they found on Earth? Food is going to be important on a long space flight - what kinds of foods will be important and what will they taste like. How will they preserve food? The ARISS contact will give the children a chance to talk to a crew member on the ISS and enhance their space experience. Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1. Do astronauts dream in space? 2. Do you think you dream differently in space? 3. How does the Earth appear when seen from the ISS? 4. Today, one hears each day about the effects of the climatic changes and the pollution on our Earth? Do you really see the effects of this pollution aboard the ISS? 5. What interest is there to be/ to go to space? 6. Knowing that everything flies on-board the ISS, how do you eat? 7. How fast does the rocket travel in space? 8. How do you prepare for a spacewalk? 9. Could you please describe what impress you most when you look from the window of the ISS? 10. What is your favorite dish and dessert? Do you miss it in space? 11. Could you see an earthquake, tsunami or a flooding from space? How would it look like? 12. What colors of the earth can you recognize from space? 13. What are three coolest things you have done in space? 14. Can the International Space Station get lost in space? 15. Because night and daylight are different in space, and because you are always "floating", I was wondering... is it easy to fall asleep in the ISS? 16. Could 3D printers revolutionize space exploration? 17. Although the long training and, I imagine, the long hours spent in imagining yourself out in space, now that you are there, can you tell us whether you have been through some feeling or experience completely unexpected to you? 18. An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Boy Scouts of America, 2013 National Jamboree, K2BSA, Mount Hope, WV on 20 July. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 15:34 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be direct between NA1SS and K2BSA. The contact should be audible over portions of the eastern U.S. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. The Boy Scouts of America held its first national jamboree in 1937. There have been 17 jamborees since that first one, typically on a four-year rotation. The 2013 National Scout Jamboree will be the 18th such jamboree. Amateur radio has been a part of the jamboree experience since 1953, when K6BSA was in operation from Irvine Ranch in California. That was followed by K3BSA in 1957 at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and KØBSA in 1964 from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Good day, In your post you mention there is a problem with the Kenwood radio... With only one radio how does this affect the uplink/downlink status of the listed frequencies? I only ask as I have not been able to hear the packet downlink vhf freq for several months. ----------------------------------------------- ARISS is requesting listener reports for the above contacts. An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesu', Rome, State of Vatican City on 10 July. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:36 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be direct between IR0ISS and HV2VO. The contact should be audible over Italy. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in Italian. Created in 1869 through a generous initiative of the Salviati family, and donated to the Holy See in 1924, the Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital is now a comprehensive children's polyclinic. In 1985, it has been formally recognized by the Italian Ministry of Health as "Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico" IRCCS (Research Hospital), and it is now one of the three Paediatric IRCCS in Italy, and the only one for Central and Southern Regions. The Hospital is a reference point in Italy and abroad and it is connected to the most important paediatric centres in Europe and the United States. Healthcare and research. An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Scout Canada Jamboree, Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada on 08 July. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 16:31 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between NA1SS and VK5ZAI. The contact should be audible over portions of Australia. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. CJ'13 is a gathering of up to 6500 youth, leaders and volunteers in Sylvan Lake, Alberta from July 6-13. This is the largest gathering of scouts in Canada. CJ'13 will bring people from across the country and around the world together for the ultimate scouting experience. Scouts will share friendship and adventure while experiencing personal development that only a jamboree experience can bring. Scouts will hike near glaciers, dig for bones, learn about the challenges of space exploration, raid a castle, and dive for buried treasure. The week promises to be one scouts will never forget! Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1. How do you know where to land on Earth when you're coming back from space? 2. CJ’13 is a gathering of up to 6500 youth, leaders and volunteers in Sylvan Lake, Alberta from July 6-13. This is the largest gathering of scouts in Canada. CJ’13 will bring people from across the country and around the world together for the ultimate scouting experience. Scouts will share friendship and adventure while experiencing personal development that only a jamboree experience can bring. An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Association Intercultura Onlus, Frascati, Italy on 06 July. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 17:02 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between NA1SS and W6SRJ. Intercultura is the Italian representative of AFS Intercultural Programs (New York), an international, no profit,voluntary based organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities and cultural exchange programs throughout more than 60 different countries in the world,involving every year 13.000 students and an equivalent number of families and schools.In Italy, Intercultura is a no profit organisation (ONLUS) recognised by the Italian government, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.The professional staff of Intercultura is made by 40 people who work in the headquarter of Colle Val d'Elsa (Siena) or in the PR offices based in Milan and Rome.The 4.000 affiliated volunteers are organize in 140 local chapters and offer they voluntary work to promote international school based exchange programs.
