Upcoming ARISS contact with Reunion Island

An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Reunion Island on 19 Aug. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 21:31 UTC.The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be direct between RS0ISS and FR1GZ. The contact should be audible over Reunion Island and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. Reunion Island has a special relationship with Cosmonaut Pavel Vinogradov since 1997, when a group of young Reunionnese students of College Reydellet created a functionnal scale model of Sputnik-1, together with Russian students in Naltchick, to celebrate Sputnik's 40 anniversary. Guy Pignolet acted as the national French coordinator, Vladimir Syromiatnikov was the Russian advisor, and Sputnik-40-Years, the first highschool satellite in the world, was launched in space during an EVA by Cosmonaut Pavel Vinogradov, then on board of the Mir Space Station. Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1. Which scientific experiment you did in the Space Station was most impressive for you? 2. Your birthday will be soon, on 31st August. Will you have a candle on your birthday cake? If so, what will be the shape of the flame? Happy Birthday! 3. Your fellow cosmonaut Luca Parmitano experienced recently a water leak in his spacesuit; how did it go? 4. Can you hear this sound (Students will send the beep-beep of a model of Sputnik-40-Years satellite)? Does it ring memories for you? Can you tell us of your encounters with Vladimir Syromiatnikov? 5. Could you tell us about your most far-out space dream? 6. From the Space Station, have you ever seen very special phenomena occurring in space? 7. With all your experience as a Cosmonaut, do you think that in the future it will be still interesting to send humans in space, or should we rather send robots? 8. How long did you first train to become a Cosmonaut? 9. What kind of thoughts come to your mind when you take pictures of Reunion Island from the Space Station? 10. Do you listen to music in the Space Station and if so, what kind of music? 11. You already have come to La Reunion. An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias Económico-Sociales, Universidad Nacional de San Luis, Villa Mercedes, Argentina on 19 Aug. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 14:14 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be direct between NA1SS and LU8YY/Q. The contact should be audible over Argentina and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in Italian. The Universidad Nacional de San Luis was established in 1973 on the basis of the two faculties of the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo operating in the city of San Luis. There are many courses of studies, such as Agronomy, Electromechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Law and Accountancy among others. Participants will ask as many of the following questions (translated) as time allows: 1. What are the vegetables that predominate in astronauts diet? 2. In what way consume it (seeds, cereals, nuts, dehydrated, soups)? 3. Are they cultivating vegetables with high nutritive value ? 4. On what other plants are working? 5. In space, Are the research orientated only to food production? 6. Do you think that would be possible the sufficiency of vegetables in the space in the future? 7. What kind of substrata use for vegetable cultivation? 8. What environmental condition in space impacts more in vegetables: Gravity? Light? 9. Do you determinate changes in growth rate of vegetables compared to earth? 10. Space conditions stimulate or inhibit flowering and fruiting? 11. Do you obtained fruits or seeds in that conditions? 12. Vegetables grown in space have been damaged by a pest (fungi, bacterium, insect)? 13. How do you transport seeds or vegetables parts from earth? 14. If seeds have been obtained on the space station, to plant them in the ground has been made viable seedlings? 15. Do you investigate about behavior of fungi, bacterium and insects in space? Looking for help for a school in Indiana County PA for an upcoming ARISS contact

Hi all, I am mentoring a school in Indiana County PA that is going to have an upcoming ARISS contact. We don't have the school scheduled yet but it will probably be in early 2014. Glen, The problem was not in the information provided by AMSAT. That is correct. The problem was the printer did not properly read the data, resulting in the fields for the name and other information being offset from the address fields. An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Centro Educativo Nº 9 Dr. Juan Llerena, Villa Mercedes, Argentina on 14 Aug. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 16:42 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be direct between NA1SS and LU8YY/Q. The contact should be audible over Argentina and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in Italian. The Educative center Nº 9 Dr. Juan Llerena is a school located in a centric place of the city of Villa Mercedes, Province of San Luis, Argentina. Was founded August 2nd 1894 and created by Law of Budget 3,064 of the 5 of January of 1894. This institution given is a complete Education Center implies that teaches all 3 levels of the obligatory education. The personnel of the establishment is approximately 240 agents (Directive - Educational - Educational Aids - Administrative and Support). This government provincial school behaves as a center of education fulfilling three levels: Initial, Primary, Secondary and operating in two shifts: morning secondary, afternoon initial and primary level. School register 175 students on Initial Level yearly, a total of 578 children attend the different Primary Level degrees and 808 attend the Secondary Level. All three levels amounts 1.561 daily attending students. Participants will ask as many of the following questions (translated) as time allows: 1. Why the space suit of astronauts is white? 2. Is it possible that the space station finds a meteorite ? 12. In the absence of gravity, how it reacts the body and mind of an astronaut? 13. How do you distinguish the day of the night on the ISS? 14. in case of illness, what kind of assistance do they receive? 15. Can you cultivate plants in space? 16. At what speed the ship travels even when the astronauts are in space? 17. How is our planet seen from the space? 18. What are the used clothes inside the ISS? 19. How much fuel is used to a "Soyuz" to get onto the ISS? 20. What is the most important experience of your career as an astronaut? An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at 14th World Scout Moot Canada 2013, Camp Awacamenj Mino, Ottawa-Gatineau, Quebec, Canada on Aug. 12. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 18:46 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between IR0ISS and IK1SLD. The contact should be audible over Italy and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. The 14th World Scout Moot will take place at Awacamenj Mino Camp, Québec, Canada from 8 - 18 August 2013. The host organization, l'Association des Scouts du Canada, is eagerly preparing to welcome up to 5,000 young adults from around the world to Canada for this once-in-a-lifetime Scouting experience! Participation is open to members of all National Scout Organizations between the ages of 18 and 25 inclusive. Those aged 26 and over are encouraged to attend the Moot as members of the International Service Team. What are the challenges of all nations working together to conquer Space Travel? 12. Would you do this again knowing the sacrifices and difficulties you overcame to succeed? 13. ARISS - Audio stream for contact this week

Please join us in listening to the ISS contact this week with participants at: 14th World Scout Moot Canada 2013, Camp Awacamenj Mino, Ottawa-Gatineau , Quebec, Canada telebridge via IK1SLD The duration of the contacts are approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contacts should be audible over portions of Europe. Audio from this contact will be fed into the: EchoLink *AMSAT* (101377) server IRLP Node 9010 Discovery Reflector Streaming Audio at: https://sites.google.com/site/arissaudio/ Audio on Echolink & web stream is generally transmitted around 20 minutes prior to the contact taking place so that you can hear some of the preparation that occurs. IRLP will begin just prior to the ground station call to the ISS. Please note that on Echolink there are automatic breaks of 1.5 seconds in the audio transmission. These occur every 2.5 minutes during the event. Breaks on IRLP are manual and occur approximately after every third question. ** Contact times are approximate. If the ISS executes a reboost or other manoeuvre, the AOS (Acquisition Of Signal) time may alter by a few minutes ** 73, John AG9D
