An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Zuni Hills Elementary School, Sun City, AZ on 22 Aug. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 17:47 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between NA1SS and K6DUE. The contact should be audible over the west coast of the U.S. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. My name is Jennifer Cheesman and I am a 6th grade science teacher at Zuni Hills Elementary School. I am very passionate about space and space education and have been since I was a student in the 7th grade when the Challenger explosion occurred. I already knew I wanted to be a teacher at that time and long dreamed of being a teacher in space. Unfortunately, my eyesight is not good enough for space travel. I have attended Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama twice through Honeywell. During the summer 2013, I was one of 35 teachers selected for the NASA microgravity university where we had the chance to fly our student experiment on board the zero g plane. This is my 7th year at Zuni Hills and my 20th year of teaching overall. We, at Zuni Hills, are home of the Grizzlies (mascot) and have award winning teachers and sports teams. There is both National Junior Honor Society and Student Council (which I also co-sponsor). Last year we took home the district football and softball trophies for the first time in our schools history. Zuni Hills has been opened since 2001. Last year solar panels were installed over our parking lot and playground so that we can conserve energy and stay cool in the 110 plus degree heat. Zuni Hills Elementary School is a K-8th grade school and falls in the Peoria Unified School District. Our district is the third largest in the state of Arizona with 33 elementary schools and 7 high schools. Our district is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. Our district has a 95% graduation rate and last year students accepted more than 50 million dollars in scholarships Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1. What do you do on the ISS? 2. Can you see other planets from the space station? 3. What does space look like? 4. What do you eat? 5. Is it fun being in space? 6. What does earth look like from space? 7. How long does it take to go around the earth 8. What kind of sports can you play in space? 9. Have you ever done a spacewalk and what was it like? 10. What made you want to become an astronaut? 11. How does it feel to be in a place with no gravity? 12. What is the best part about being in space? 13. What have you learned in space that could help us here on earth? 14. How do you get oxygen into space? 15. How hot or cold can it get in space? 16. Do you like your job? 17. Is it hard to eat or breathe in space? 18. How do you return to earth? An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Canada Science and Technology Museum Summer Day Camps, Ottawa, ON, Canada on 13 Aug. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 17:18 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between OR4ISS and IK1SLD. The contact should be audible over Italy and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. The Canada Science and Technology Museum is a national museum located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The Museum's day camps are a large part of the educational strategy of the Museum to cultivate scientific, technological and engineering literacy in Canada. Our Summer Camps programs have run for over 12 years for children aged 6-12 with a curiosity for science. Each of the five camps has a different theme incorporating various aspects of science, technology and engineering: Adventures in Science (ages 6-8), Gadgets and Gizmos (ages 6-8), Junior Astronomers (ages 6-8), Ultimate Builders (ages 9-12) and Adventures in Robotics (ages 9-12). Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1. When you were a kid, did you always know you wanted to be an astronaut? 2. Can you tell us about one of the experiments you're doing on the space station, and how it will help us back on Earth? 3. I am in the Robotics summer camp at the Museum, and would like to know in what ways robots are being used on the space station? 4. I am in the Junior Astronomers Camp at the Museum. What is your favourite planet or moon in our Solar System, and why? 5. Do you ever have a good night's sleep on the space station, and do you dream the same way as you do on Earth? 6. What is the scariest part of being in space? 7. There are people from around the world on the space station, how do you choose which countries astronauts come from, and which ones get to go? 8. My least favourite subject in school is Math, but my teacher tells me it is important to learn. Do you ever use mathematics as an astronaut, or on the space station? 9. What food do you miss the most from Earth? 10. Why do you think space travel is important to science and engineering? 11. Roberta Bondar was the first Canadian woman in space. Since then, how many women have been in space? 12. What are the different jobs an astronaut can have on board the space station? 13. If you had not become an astronaut, what profession would you be in? 14. Would you ever want to go to on a mission to Mars? Why or why not? 15. What is the most valuable thing you have learned since becoming an astronaut? 16. What advice would you give to someone who wants to be an astronaut? An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Amino Kita Elementary School, Kyotango, Japan on 06 Aug. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 10:25 UTC. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be direct between NA1SS and 8J3AK. The contact should be audible over Japan and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. Amino Kita Elementary School was opened on April 1, 1983. Our school is located at the northernmost tip of Kyoto Prefecture in Japan. We have 244 students now, who all study hard and pursue sports actively. Our school is surrounded by a rich, natural environment. The location of our school is recognized as a part of Quasi-National Park and the National Geo Park. It is also only 100 meters away from the beach. Students in the 6th grade swim one kilometer in the sea every year. During the current season, summer, a lot of lights from squid fishing boats can be seen in the sea at night. Maybe you can see them from the ISS? Our school has beautiful grounds covered with green grass. At recess, our students play in the grounds full of energy. There are straight hallways more than 100 meters long in our school. They are sometimes used in our arithmetic classes to learn how to measure distance. The members of our space club will ask you some questions today. These questions were thought of by all of the students. It is a new club that began this year. They are studying the stars and moon, and practicing English hard so that they can make contact with you. All of the people in our school are really looking forward to getting in touch with the astronauts in the ISS. Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1. Does the earth look beautiful from the ISS? 2. Do you have any difficulties while you are living in zero gravity? 3. Why did you decide to be an astronaut? 4.
