Upcoming ARISS contact with Pima County 4H/Vail Vaquero's 4H Club Tucson, AZ

An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Pima County 4H/Vail Vaquero's 4H Club Tucson, AZ on 22 Aug. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 18:38 UTC. It is recommended that you start listening approximately 10 minutes before this time. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be direct between NA1SS and W7LB. The contact should be audible over portions of the western U.S. and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. The Vail Vaquero's 4H Club is a local 4H Club in Pima County, Arizona. Pima County 4-H is just one out of over 3,000 county 4H Clubs nationwide that work with youth, aged 5 to 18, preparing them to make a positive impact in their communities and their world. The STEM based programs offered provide leadership that engages the youth to impact their communities. 4-H reaches every corner of our nation - from urban neighborhoods to suburban school yards even to rural farming communities. 4-H has a network of more than 6 million youth, 540,000 volunteers, 3,500 professionals and more than 60 million alumni! 4-H has helped to shape our youth to move this great country forward in ways that no other youth program can with programs designed to shape future leaders and innovators. 4-H'ers engage in hands on learning activities in areas of science, citizenship and healthy living. The Vail Vaquero's 4H Club is the first 4H Ham Radio Project in the State of Arizona. There are currently six members registered in the Ham Radio Project - half of which serve in leadership roles. All six will be asking questions. Vail Vaquero's also offers Robotics and Rocketry Projects. One of the Robotics and Rocketry members will be participating in the questioning portion of the event. 1. An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Higashioka Elementary School, Toyonaka, Osaka, Japan on 18 Aug. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. The Higashioka elementary school was established at 1966. The location of this school is in Senri New Town in Toyonaka city. Our school has 15 classes and 474 children. One student had a dream that he wanted to talk with an astronaut. Therefore, we organized this school contact with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of our school. Upcoming ARISS contact with Fleurance Astronomy Festival, Fleurance, France

An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Fleurance Astronomy Festival, Fleurance, France on 14 Aug. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 19:42 UTC. It is recommended that you start listening approximately 10 minutes before this time.The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between RS0ISS and IK1SLD. The contact should be audible over Italy and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. Fleurance is a small town located in the South-West of France near Toulouse, in the Gers department, with about 7,000 inhabitants. One of the main specialties of this city is the French gastronomy, and especially everything made from duck (e.g. french foie gras, duck magret) and melon. In terms of beverages, Gers is the home region of Armagnac (french alcohol made from white wine), Floc de Gascogne (made from Armagnac and grape must) and Pousse-Rapiére (made from Armagnac and a kind of Champagne). Since 1991, the French Astronomy Festival takes place in August in Fleurance where more than 10,000 people attend this summer event, the largest European festival on astronomy and space topics. More than 50 international researchers as well as astronauts are welcomed and give lectures to everyone coming to the festival over the week. Since 2006, Astro-jeunes, a kids festival, is organized during the same week, and welcomes more than 200 children per day to unveil them the mysteries of our Universe and the Space conquest history. A dozen of children from this festival and the Fleurance high-school "Hubert Reeves" (sponsor of the Festival) have prepared this contact both with their physics and English teachers. Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1. How are you? How do you feel today? 2. Which time zone do you use? 3. Which scientific experiments are you working at the moment? 4. What's the latest big problem you have experienced? 5. What did you feel during take-off? 6. How often do you go out of the station? 7.
