I've been trying to figure out the correct process to engage NO-84 so testing for understanding here.
I can hear occasional PSK-31 in short bursts but have not been able to decode it yet.
I want to make sure I understand what settings to use.
Downlink USB & use FLDigi etc. for decode PSK-31
Receive downlink is USB?
What part of the spectrum Is the downlink typically in (Hz)?
Uplink is on 10 Meters USB also or LSB?
Assuming FLDigi will work PSK-31 fine for Uplink also?
What do I send on uplink, just station ID?
Thanks & look forward to having another bird to play with.

I’ve been trying to figure out the correct process to engage NO-84...
You missed that the Downlink is FM. THen you will have normal PSK31 audio to feed the waterfall display.. DUring a pass you will have to shift your FM receiver 4 times from +10 KHz, then +5 kHz and then on 435.350 mHz, then -5 kHz then -10 kHz.
You can transmit 100% during the pass since the transponder is full duplex. and you can then not only see yourself but everyone else in the passband. This means running one instances of PSK31 using SSB uplink on the HF radio and another instance of PSK31 decoding software on the other UHF radio.
But your downlink audio will shift throughout the pass making others have to chase you. It is better to download K0SM's DopplerPSK program on the uplink which will automatically shift your transmit uplink so that you stay still in the aurio downlink..
Imagine, 20 people in simultaneous parallel qso throughout the pass!
This also works for PSAT2 which has more power. on the downlink (both sats are on 435.350 mHz but different uplinks. 28.1215 mHz for PSAT and 29.4815 for PSAT2).

Hi Mike, as Bob pointed out, the downlink is FM, uplink USB. Further info about beacon frequencies etc. you can find on our dedicated pages: http://www.urel.feec.vutbr.cz/esl/files/Projects/PSAT/P%20sat%20transponder%... and https://github.com/alpov/SatCam/blob/master/README.md Or simply just ask us. PSK31 yes and it is pretty much free form. However one cool thing that Bob indicated last week which I have suspected since last year is that PSAT2 becomes a bent pipe once it detects PSK31. N8URE has sent SSTV and Hellschreiber type waterfall text which was then decoded using Fldigi to PSAT2. The part I suspected which he confirmed last week was that you can also send SSB voice to PSAT2 and theoretically it should send that audio back down. If I misunderstood what Bob said then I take that back but the way I understand it and we have proven that it will send whatever it hears once PSK31 is detected back down over FM.

We welcome any use of the PSK31 transponder on PSAT2. for any modes.
THough I share this in the blind not having a ground station now due to poor health and never monitoring the channel. If you hear the transponder come up and the full bandwidth is not being used, then you are welcome to use a full-bandwidth mode (such as SSTV or VOice).
Remember, the audio is being mixed at the 10 Meter RF satellite receiver and so there is no FM capture effect so a middle of passband PSK31 signal will appear just fine in the middle of the voice at the same time and the mixture levels will be based on the RF uplink levels.. Meaning the voice will likely pump the AGC and therefore pump the PSK31 making it unreadable? So we ask the PSK31 users to stay near the bottom of the audio passband.
But this is all guessing on my part. We hope to get some good daily users who can comment on the best operating practices!
Would it make sense for the voice uwer to be transmitting his PSK31 carrier say in the middle at 1 KHz identifying his voice signal. Since his PSK31 will not get pumped and so it is easily identified..... or is it?
