Hi all, Below is my log so far of ISS contacts and SSTV pics from Oct 14 - Oct 16... received from my home in Hanna, Indiana (near Chicago). I have been using a computer VOX recorder since the beginning of W5KWQ's mission and have audio files for all the activity in my log. Hi Tony We have Echolink at lu8yy station (LU8YY-L) link with an UHF repeater, we will take into account that option (is better than nothing). I hope that in the coming days we will hear SSTV. Hola Patrick Gracias por tu respuesta. Tu español es muy bueno, se puede interpretar perfectamente. Ayer dejé la computadora con el mmsstv y el equipo de radio encendido toda la noche pero tampoco recibí ninguna imagen. Volveremos a intentarlo mañana ya que el sábado no trabajo y puedo levantarme en el horario de la jornada de la ISS Por lo que vi en los programas de seguimiento el sábado a las 07:30 UTC (04:30 Local) pasará la ISS por nuestra zona, esperemos poder capturar imagenes. No SSTV in VK/ZL?

Has anybody heard a peep in VK or ZL? Despite intensive efforts I've seen or heard nothing at all. Not even a peep on last night's overhead pass, not even the hint of a peep. I even left the rig and Computer on 24/7 last few days. I saw a report that Mike Fincke called CQ over Eastern Australia around 10:58 UTC on Oct 15 2008. If you are hoping for SSTV, you will have to wait until the crew activates it in the morning. The system is only running when the crew is awake. To know when that is, check the crew timelines posted at http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/timelines/10_2008_tl.html Garriott is listed as SFPVC, Fincke is CDR-18. ARISS Flight Update October 15, 2008

We have had a number of image uploads on the Gallery site by hams all around the world. The ARISS team appreciates your volunteer support through all the SSTV images that have been uploaded. A volunteer ARISS team is working 24/7 during Richard's flight to review these images, to understand how the SSTV operations is progressing, and to include some of these images on the Gallery pages. Our intent is to keep SSTV active during their work day. The rationale for this is that we are having some issues with the software based (SpaceCam) SSTV system occasionally keeping the radio keyed down after an image transmission. And we have a limited set of Russian batteries available during Richard's flight for the VC-H1. You are witnessing and are a part of history: Some of you have asked why Richard is using his callsign for some QSOs and SSTV contacts instead of the ISS station callsigns. There is a long and proud history that is attached to the Garriotts. This includes ham radio in space and their personal callsigns. 25 years ago, Richard's father, Owen Garriott, W5LFL, initiated the first ham radio contacts from space on the STS-9 SAREX mission. Richard, W5KWQ, is following in his father's footsteps, using the ARISS ham radio system extensively on his first flight. And Richard's callsign is actually his grandfather's original callsign. So you can see that this mission touches 3 generations of ham radio and 2 generations of ham radio in space! Additional SSTV Information: The computer-based SSTV can also support SSTV picture taking using a USB camera. We don't anticipate Richard using this as his primary SSTV operations for his mission will be with the VC-H1. The USB camera was checked out over the weekend by the Expedition 17 crew, where they took photos of themselves and downlinked these to the ham community. Hi. In February, 2005, the Pen Bay Amateur Radio Club of Rockland, Me, sponsored a contact with the ISS and the students of the Rockland High School. We would like to sponsor a contact with the George's Valley High School in Thomaston. However, the Ham who had the proper antennas and rotors is no longer available.
