My first Posit via PCSAT for a long time

Yes, PCSAT-1 is working great. I was driving through Tennessee on Friday, and saw a PCSAT-11 packet on the normal North Americal 144.39 frequency and so I quickly QSY'ed to 145.825 and in my mobile with a magmount, my D700 radio captured 12 stations via PCSAT-1 and 10 messages/bulletins to the radio front panel. PCSAT-1 has a 1 minute beacon on 144.39 over North America so that people in low-QRM areas might see when PCSAT is in view for just this purpose. There is no 144.39 uplink, of course, since all the satellite would hear is 10,000 jammed packets in space. Later, I just left my radio on overnight on 145.825 and captured similarly a dozen stations. (Be sure to set your RANGE limit back to 0, or the D700 will ignore all packets coming from too far away...)... How in the world is is even remotely possible that people hold a conversation on the bird knowing that there are 70 people ( probabally more like 170) using the bird for quick contacts? HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE.. I cant imagine the ignorace involved... I just cannot fathom it. -Steve Raas N2JDQ FN20vg

Hello again, I am looking for any references where ham radio is featured in popular culture, particularly movies, and TV. For example there was a bit of it in the movie "Contact" based on Carl Sagan's book of the same name. Has anyone got an other references like this? Thank you. Paul

I am currently not QRV on any of the satellites. Mainly an AZ rotor problem.... Holding my breath for P3E!!! I would be pleased to help in any way possible and would volunteer to be the 0..(zero) bureau sorter if that will be of any help. When we actually do get an HEO bird into orbit maybe we can expand this to include DX "helpers". Just a thought. Postage rates everywhere are getting very expensive and any way to help would be appreciated by all, I believe. 73 to all... CU soon on P3E............... Frank, K0BLT

Whilst listening for Pehuensat you may hear UO-11. Give it a try with MixW. Two more FCAL packetsesss

I went through my recorded FCAL passes for this week. I managed to extract packets from two passes: 2007jan28 06:57 EST 1:Fm KD4HBO To TELEM Via TELEM <UI pid=F0 Len=56 >[xx:xx:xx] 0031E4CFFFFFF98023002C0FFFEFEE80003FF98FFFEFFA0FFFFFE40 2007jan29 00:51 EST 1:Fm KD4HBO To TELEM Via TELEM <UI pid=F0 Len=57 >[xx:xx:xx] Analog 000400FF00F100DA00B0000800DF000E N 0000001E I've got a couple more audio files that contain good candidate packets, but the AGW packet engine doesn't decode them (and doesn't indicate why.) I presume that the DDE rotor function is always enabled when that program is in the main SatPC32 directory. What I'm not sure about is WHICH of several RotorServer.sqf files is the correct one to use for DDE. Perhaps Erich Eichmann or a SatPC32/Uni-Trac user can clarify... Just worked HR9/N5AFV in EK66, on an island just off the north coast of Honduras. This is quite the warm welcome to working sat's thats for sure! I think he was experiencing some microphone difficulty, as after I worked him N9EAW attempted to work him and all that was sent after EAW's calls were short carriers, with a blip of audio. I hope he gets this fixxed.. as I know many many people would love to work him there. I cant wait for the HEO's! Working DX is soo much fun! Keep in mind this is all 100% Unoffical as of now, I do already have a volenteer for the 7th Call district. I am going to create a word document for proposal to the powers to be, in regards to this.. I think everyone could benifit and I hope the interest is there. I will keep everyone informed in regards to any further volenteer offers I recieve about handeling a call district.
