Hello all, I was fortunate enough this morning to speak to Mike Finkle on the ISS this morning after answering his QC call just before a sheduled school contact. Does anyone have a recording of it ? if so could anyone please send it to me at MM3YCG(a)btinternet.com . It would be greatly appreciated !! 73
Hi All:
Anyone happen to record the activity from the ISS repeater on the pass from
around 1615 UTC or so today? My first QRP, Handy Talkie, twisting knobs
while listening on two VFOs and waving antenna around in the pool area QSO!

Just got off a 25 degree pass . . . nice to work a new "bird". My first time on the cross band repeater on the ISS. Since it is only 200 miles up it moves quickly across the sky but it sure has a great signal . . . a little tricky to keep on it but great to work new guys on a new bird. Thanks for turning it on . . .

Morning,
Had a great QSO with myself this morning. Compared with the last time I
tried this mode, the uplink audio gain seems much better matched. The last
time, I and others had to hit the bird with a lot of RF, whereas this
morning I found that the normal level was plenty to get into the bird with
comparable downlink to the FM/FM operation. I did get at least one call
toward LOS which sounding like the uplink was FM, but he did not get things
switched until my LOS.

Hello Folks,
Is the FO-29 beacon operational ??.
I had a listen on the pass at 22:08 this evening but heard nothing.
I see from the Carr log that the satellite was operational today but there's no info about the beacon.
Anybody heard it in the last 24 hours or so ??.
Any relavant information very much appreciated.

I am almost finished with a 16 turn helix for 1.2ghz. I am not sure of what type of matching I should use. Some of designs I have seen use a flat tab on the first 90 degrees of the helix. What size should it be? Is there a better way? I have a bird 43 with a 1.2 slug for tuning.

The ISS cross band repeater is on and working extremely well.
The 06.50utc UK pass was accessible during the full period of visibility
however there were few stations and only one contact was made with DL0SP,
thank you Mario.
Can I stress the importance of the Doppler correction on the uplink. It was
apparent that there were at least two other stations that would have been
perfectly readable had this been correct.
Good luck to all.

Bob,
That is what I have used with great success. Some folks make a
curved line but I just used some 1/4 inch brass strap that I cut to
fit one quarter turn from the coax connector to the beginning of the
helix wire (I use 12ga. house wire with insulation stripped
off). The connector end of the strip line has a hole drilled to fit
the N-connectort pin and is soldered as close to ground and not short
out. The other end is only about 1/4 inch farther from ground. I
drill a hole there for the 12ga wire to connect.
I am using this for a 3-1/2 turn helix feed on 1296 and a 6-turn feed for 2400.
