Delfi C3 launch succes

I am watching the PLSV-C9 launch from India and at 0408Z PSLV-C9 was at 2932 km downrange at an altitude of 626KM and the launch was perfect at 0353Z. The tentative Delfi C3 KEPS "seems" to be ahead of the actual PSLV-C9 position. We will not be able here on the eastern North American side to get the sat before 1329Z (0929 EST) RASCALS is working tracking is ready i just wait for the real KEPS and the first report from the western coast of NA. Congratulations for the launch team in India and it's could be a world premiere a 10 satellites launch on a single rocket. P.S. Dear All, Just witnessed the very successful launch of Delfi-C3 and all other satellites launched from India via DD National live. My congratulations to all those involved in making this launch a success. Now awaiting the reception of the first signals some 9 hours from now. Will have to wait for tomorrow morning to copy the first signal from Delfi-C3 due to it being in eclipse during the first pass over West Malaysia. Delfi C3 first orbit

Hi all. Delfi C3 is being launched at 03.53 UTC on Monday. I've loaded the keps from the web site, and it looks like the first stations to hear the satellite will be on the west coast of the USA at around 05.01 when the satellite exits eclipse heading north. Can anyone confirm this sounds about right? It doesn't look like the satellite will have a good pass over the University ground station until around 4.5 hours after launch. All the more reason to collect some valuable telemetry in the first few hours. Exciting times...... David

I use Compuserve 7.0 which is related to AOL. I am usually able to recover the bulletin as a download, but it does not display as a part of the message like other ANS-Bulletins and most other messages. I mentioned this to Joanne at Dayton (or Pittsburg) last year and neither of us can explain it. Do you send the bulletin as an attachment or embedded in a message? I occaisionally miss an ANS-Bulletin altoghther, but that is another problem. 73 - Keith, W5IU

AO-16 status update #3

Hello all, A quick look at the telemetry suggests that AO-16 is doing fine. The current transmitter output power is about 1.5 Watts. This is reduced from the earlier setting of about 1.8 Watts. As of 21:37 UTC 27 April 2008, AO-16 is again configured for voice mode and is open for normal operations: Uplink: 145.920 MHz FM Downlink: 437.0260 MHz DSB (LSB and USB). Users of AO-16 are encouraged to report any aberrant operations by either posting to the AMSAT-BB or by emailing the command team at n8mh AT amsat.org "Aberrant operations" might include the following: complete loss of signal from the spacecraft or significant change in the transmitter frequency. Hello all, I was able to command AO-16 ON during the 19:52 UTC pass over my QTH. The satellite is currently in 1200 BPSK digital MBL telemetry mode on the 437.026 MHz transmitter. Frequencies

Where could the satellite frequencies be found? I'm thinking that I would use the USB mode. My 2M/70cm antenna is a arrow OSJ 146/440 which is a J Pole vertical. Do I need a hand held antenna to get the satellites?Thanks, newbie - Walter
