Re: AO-27 FD ?

The schedule on ao27.org has been a little off for a few months now and shows AO-27 as being on when it is well past the USA. The schedule on the satellite is working good though, and will turn on when it is about 29 degrees North on ascending passes. So FD stations can assume it will turn on for the afternoon passes, although of course it will be off for the night passes. I worked it a few days ago and it was sounding great. 73 Sam KC2LRC

AO-27 FD ?

Am I looking at the skid wrong? Looks like 27 will not turn on in analogue mode till after it has passed the US. My tracker shows the 06/28/2008 18:24z turn on just as the northern border sees LOS. 2.4ghz antenna for AO-51

I tried to be diligent and do my searching before asking this question, but with no search ability on amsat-bb and google coming up near empty..... here goes!!! Are there any "popular" designs for AO51 antennas? I have my converters (3 of them actually, a drake, a direc broadbcast TV converted with teftape and a kit built down east microwave D/C) leftover from AO40 days. But I seem to have dismantled or lost or sold or something to my dish I used. I have various dishes from directv sized to starband sized. Is there any particular feed people are finding to work better than others? Is there getting to be a "common" setup for 2.4? Thanks!! -James KI0KN

Bob, No question that this issue is something which needs to be revisited and clarified, with the input of the AMSAT users, over the next year. For now, I will take the answer to mean that the ISS will be treated as any other orbiting amateur relay package, regardless of where it is bolted. And certainly for the 100 point bonus, which question started all this. BTW, good to work you at W3ADO this AM. My antenna decided to swing 360, and the phone rang from someone at the FD committee at the same time, so I could not get back to you. Alan WA4SCA

AMSAT-UK Colloquium 2003 Final Call for Speakers/Papers

This is the final call for speakers/papers for the 23rd Amsat-UK Colloquium which will be held at Surrey University, Guildford, Surrey, U.K., from Friday 25th July to Sunday 27th July 2008. Details of this and previous events can be found at: http://www.uk.amsat.org. Amsat-UK invite speakers, about amateur radio space and associated activities, for this event. They are also invited to submit papers for the "Proceedings" document which will be published at the same time but printed papers are not mandatory. We normally prefer authors to present talks themselves rather than having someone else give them in the authors' absence. We also welcome "unpresented" papers for the Proceedings document. Offers of talks should be submitted as soon as possible; the final date for full documents to be received is July 16th 2008 in order that the "Proceedings" document be available to participants.
