Hi David and Ib, Delfi transponder was operating over ZL on the 2132 UT pass a short while ago. Started with a 6.3kHz offset (Satellite input on 435.5495MHz, Output on 145.9068MHz). This drifted down to about a 6kHz offset at the end of the pass. Good beacon signals until Delfi was about 61 deg S when it sounded as though it was FMing and the note became rough for about 2 minutes. Little or no signal back from the transponder. It recovered before LOS a few minutes later. Note that Delfi has been in full sun for more than half its orbit before it hits ZL and progressively loses the sun before going into eclipse South of ZL so the above may not represent what happens as Delfi comes out of eclipse in the Northern hemisphere. All very interesting. Still no one to talk to in this part of the world. "Heard in VK" is the best so far. Next pass is 4 Deg low to West (over VK) so perhaps this time if the transponder is still on. It's about 1min 20sec into the video. 145.9005 = 435.5512 So that would seem consistent with Alan's observation and equating to a nominal clean room temperature. However, certainly seems to be that an offset has been there from the moment the transponder was finished. hi folks, I think I may know why I am not getting the downlink, could it be that I have my rig on pkt? My rig has setting for lsb, usb, cw, cwr,data, pkt.am,fm. Should I maybe place it on other then pkt? which one? fm maybe? Please advise, tks kc8gkf ,

Nova Frequency Tracking

Could anyone on this list help me set up the Nova frequency tracking for Doppler effect compensation, please? I'm looking forward to setting that Doppler effect tracking compensation on FO-29, AO-51 and few other birds. I have read the information on the software help but got confused about frequency at the bird and at station, bird listening to you on a frequency which is lower or higher than mine and so forth... Delfi-N3xt

Gang: Just watched the excellent presentation from the Delfi team, outlining a new satellite using the 3-cube approach that they have successfully implemented in the Delfi-C3 project. They are planning a high-baud S-band downlink for burst data download and a space-weather measurement experiment. Great stuff. Once again, they want tangibly to 'give back' to the amateurs. They mentioned an improved U/V transponder like the one in Delfi-C3, but they'd also like to entertain new ideas from us. What do we think? 73, Bruce VE9QRP

FO-29 IS on over NA but no one show up!

I called on 3 passes today on FO-29 but no one shows up. Signal was very stable and clean but i suspect the TX was running at QRP level i only got a S2 reading with the INT preamp on on the FT-847! Anyway it's another one the be anchored on to avoid driftingachonred out of the channel. DELFI C-3 will be the next one. FO-29 is alive and well

Hi All, Following suggestions of my friend Mak, SV1BSX I tried FO-29 this night 27 july during the South bound orbit 58978 when the AOS for me in JN70ES was at 00:06 UTC and FO-29 was in sun light. I was alone into the passband and my return signal was very strong above my noise floor with appoximately only 10 watt on a 13 dBi crossed yagi RHCP / LHCP (about 200 watt EIRP) The SSB return was very clean and without FMing with the usual need to switch RHCP to LHCP time to time to get the best signal strength At 00:15 UTC FO-29 started to experience the eclipse as per InstanTrack but no signe of reduction of my return signal or FMing was noted. >From 00:15 to 00:21 until my LOS the satellite was over Africa and well in full eclipse for about 6 minutes but my own return signal was still clear ad strong without any signe of FMing so that it seems that the battery are working and as far I know the satellite performance seems to be nominal. The CW beacon was ON all the time but it should be necessary to decode the TLM to get the actual parameters ( I think IW4DVZ can do the job with his suitable software ) The transponder is very sensitive as it was as new so that refrain please to use high power because 200 watt EIRP is more than necessary. I tanks very much Mak SV1BSX for sending to me the results of his experience yesterday confirming the results that I got this night both confirming that FO-29 seems to be alive and well. We don't know what JARL did to resurrex this beautiful satellite but until she will last we have another real CW and SSB satellite to work. Congratulations to JARL 73" de i8CVS Domenico
