Hi All,
I have been asked to do a few satellite demos for some Boy Scouts tomorrow
afternoon on Horn’s Hill, Newark Ohio. The location sits about 400-500’
above the rest of the terrain which is great for low passes, but there are
several trees to contend with. It would be great if a few people could call
so the scouts could hear a typical exchange, and it would be really great if
whoever calls could give their state as well.
Here are the passes I plan to be on:
AO27 30/1817z 50*
AO51 30/1942z 15*
Maybe...
AO27 30/1957z 19*
I will be operating with my usual call, or I might be operating using W8CBF.
Grid will still be EN80.
We will also be on HF:
JOTA Scout Frequencies

>
> 40-meter
> 7.190 MHz
>
> 20-meter
> 14.290 MHz
>
> 10-meter
> 28.390 MHz
Sorry I can't provide more details about the event. I believe there were a
few organizational issues. The passes and HF ops will be dependent on who
all shows up, band conditions and weather. There are supposedly 400-500
scouts that will be coming through.
If you would like a card, send me the QSO details and I will send you one -
no return necessary.

Make sure to tell them that 100 other people will all be on the same freq also and try not to double with someone, LOL.
gud luck FM birds are very over crowded. SSB birds would be alot better I hope you told them what to expect

All,
A few weeks back, my radio club, The Thunderbird Amateur Radio Club (www.w7tbc.org) held an antenna building session where several members built satellite antennas from Kent Britain, WA5VJB, plans. Tomorrow is our Spring picnic and I'm planning on getting a few of the folks who built this antenna on the birds. Hopefully I'll have a few new voices on the following passes:
AO-27 1957UT
AO-27 2136UT
AO-51 2258UT
So if you hear a new call from DM33, help them get their first satellite QSO.
Not sure how many will be there, but here are a few calls you may hear:
AE7GM
WA6AYS
KF7MLX
KE7VOU
You can see some pictures from the build session on the club web site (see the link above)
Thanks in advance

Thanks to Yanko, NX9G, for his help with the PayPal widget. He was able to get it up and working last night.
Thanks for the responses!

OK, I finally received the ARROW satellite antenna. I believe I have all
necessary to make AO-51 contacts (any maybe SO-50) while I am camping in
the Motorhome. I have a Yaesu FT-470 with Speaker Mic, the Arrow antenna
and I approprated the camera tri-pod from my bride. Not going to worry
about logging until I get comfortable enough receiving.
I seem to remember someone mentioning they used the tripod top plate to
change polarity. How was that done? Do I need to poke a hole thru my New
Arrow to attach it to the tripod? Anyone out there BTDT (been there,
done that)?
Thanks

Y'all might want to listen for some /MM stations in the Gulf on the FM birds starting today. Go easy on them, as they are new to satellite, and operating with omnis most likely. Their route is St.Pete to Cancun, and back. I'm not sure of their calls, so just keep an ear out.
