Making ISS voice contacts, best practice

Hi AMSAT-BB: Is it bad form to call the NA1SS during a pass in a vain attempt to make a contact? I am not trying to stalk them (well actually...) but this has always been a dream of mine since I got my Amateur Radio golden ticket. But I am trying to wake up early in the morning when presumably the ISS crew is active and call CQ. Do folks call CQ NA1SS? Its this bad form? I also don't know how to tell if the FM repeater is on (I have read several links on how to make contacts but they are vague, its more or less monitor 145.800Mhz and go from there). 73 -aps (KC2ZSX)

Rotator Yaesu G-5500 and Trakbox

Hi folks, i owned since 1990 the Rotator G-5400B together with the Trakbox. As I have problem with it and as have renewed my antennas, I decided to change the Also the rotator and have bought the Yaesu G-5500. Today I received and set it up to see if it works perfectly before I install it On the roof. I saw a difference between the old and the new control box, in fact the azimuth display of the old one Shows starting from left to right the following scale: 180 - 225 - 270 - 315 - 0 - 45 - 90 - 135 - 180 360 S W N E S While the new one shows starting from left to right the following scale: 0 - 90- 180 - 270 - 360 - 90 N E S W N E Do not know why these difference and sounds so strange to me as I have used For a long time the old one. Continuing with my settings, I have plugged the cable from the new Control box and the Trakbox and as I have as parking 270°, I saw the azimuth needle going to the left and it stops on About 90° E. The needle seem to be on the right position but not on the right side. At this time I'm a bit confused. Anybody can help me to get out of this confusion? Please check QRZ info WA4NVM or WA4HFN for a new list of 10 hams in em55 and skeds are ok. It may take a little time to complete ,but you can get it before you get WAS on the birds or a reply back from the ARRL for VUCC. Thanks and good hunting WA4HFN em55

AO-51 over Hawaii

Aloha all Sorry for the delay re: the last 51 pass over Hawaii. Unfortunately, nothing heard. As I was in the field with the VX-7R I did not have duplex capabilities as yesterday with my ground station. However, I heard no quieting nor stations on the west coast. I assume AO-51 was off. Was not heard from Kf1buz or myself on the last pass, I heard it cut out on the pass before, I got two new ones on that pass. Did anyone else hear it cuttin out? Kevin KF7MYK
