Space@VT continued (VT-ARA, etc.)

Several have asked. The university club station, K4KDJ, will remain in Squires. The ITAR stinking smoldering festering pile of &*() will prevent the Space@VTbuilding from being open to anyone but U.S. persons so VT-ARA cannot be relocated there even if we wanted to (we don't). ----------- Additional info: Bill Davis, W9KIC (antenna and EM professor at VT) "retires" from being faculty advisor to the VT ARA and I will be the new adviser next Fall and the plan is the "renewal" trustee when that comes up. ----------- I love Blacksburg. Had you told me prior to 9/11 that I would be living here I would have laughed so hard you would have been insulted. There is NOTHING outside of the 45 min train ride to NYC I miss about living in New Jersey. 73's P.S. Further to Bill Tynan's article in the latest AMSAT Journal, it should be noted that the Radio Club of America's elevation of Tom Clark, K3IO, to the status of Fellow came with a very special honor. Elevation to Fellow is conferred by the RCA Board of Directors, which normally will not consider it until the person has been a member of the cllub for at least five years. In Tom's case, the Board waived that requirement and elevated him after on;y three years of membership. Congratulations to Tom on this well deserved honor. 73 Ray W2RS

On behalf of the AARA and myself I want to thank Keith Pugh and Roger Ley for represent AMSAT at the Rayne hamfest last weekend. AMSAT has been represented at this hamfest for at least 3 decades thanks to Keith and Roger. I would also like to thank the ARRL and Mark Spencer for his great talks to our educators and new hams at the hamfest. It is by efforts like Keith, Roger and Mark that keeps our hobby vibrant.
