Several years ago, due to corroded pins, I contacted Yaesu for a replacement (the male side). I decided while at it I would get a spare female. The price they quoted before shipping was $100 Plus!!!! I hard wired it!! Used same fix for the on off switch on the control box! K8TL

Any one in Hawaii wanna try Mode B at about 0110UTC on AO7? we have a footprint into EM55 from the Hawaiian Islands for approximately 10 minutes. If anyone is willing to "try" or "listen" to see if they can hear something, please send me a private email and we will set up a schedule and frequency to give it a try. I keep hearing that there are folks on the linear birds in Hawaii but I can never get anyone to try when we have a "footprint" into the central US. If anyone over there wants to try, send me an email and I'll send you my telephone # and we can try and make a schedule! Thanks & help get a "ham" get his 50th state for Satellite WAS! Frank K4FEG

Lightsquared Analogy

I finally figured out a good analogy about the LightSquared and GPS fiasco. --------------- There is a "music room" where people can go and, with headphones, listen to their own music. No one disturbs anyone else. Everyone is happy. A LightSquared rock band comes into the room and begins to play at max volume, and then insists there should be no problem because the headphones work just fine in providing the isolation between what each person is listening to. Therefore the interference to everyone in the room is not their fault, but the fault of the Headphone Manufacturers! Bob, WB4APR

Rather frustrating AO-27 pass

I usually have no problems working AO-27 but a few minutes ago during the 2100 UTC pass over DM04 the pass started out with telemetry, some odd beeping and what sounded like packet. The pass was from south to north so like usual Spanish comms were heard but as AO-27 approached max elevation instead of getting a loud signal the bird went quiet and a few seconds later I found it jumped 10 kHz. I tried calling CQ and stations directly but apparently no one heard me. For those of you on at that time was I getting into the bird at all? -- Bryan Herbert - KE6ZGP Newhall, CA.
