Any Satellite using Ham frequencies?

The following satellites will be launched by PSLV C 21, tentatively during October 2012. SARAL, Sapphire, NeosSat, UniBRITE (CanX 3a), BRITE-Austria (Tugsat 1, CanX 3b), Max Valier and AAUSat III. Any info about any of the above satellites using Ham radio frequencies ? Gunters Space page says about the Max Valier satellite "radio modems at 70 cm and S-Band with a link rate of 19200 Bd. An amateur radio beacon signal will also be transmitted on the 2m band" BRITE-Austria, plan was for plan S-Band for telemetry downlinks with a 145MHz CW beacon. I seem to remember that there is a problem running instanttrack/instantune on windows xp. I am hoping that the cat on my ft-950 will be supported, I can't see why not with backwards compatbility and all. Thankyou in advance. Alan

frequency conversion

What is the rule of thumb in finding the exact frequency on the HF radio for a given frequency on a UHF downconverter. My LO is 424.996550 MHZ. Does this create a mixing product that I then have to compensate for? Alan VY2WU BTW Sold my 1978 VW Westphalia camper to get my new radioes.

CO-55 just went over the center of North America and I was able to copy the CW beacon. Thanks gang. I am going to use a manual switch to make sure everything is OK with the converter until I can come up with something bullet proof. I need the sensitivty of the FT-950 to make this work. that was a true grazing pass. Think I am paranoid enough to keep that switch at the dummy load. Cheers, Alan

Big Fat Liar

Hi, Well, I am a big fat liar. I do have a CAT radio, it is my FT-950. Every 10 years I try to buy a really nice HF radio. I bought it last summer. I practically put it in a box to move it across the room. Since I can't diable the transmit, I decided to not use it. My pegasus is shot. Really shot. So, that leaves my TS-50. Here is the actual point of this email. Is there a way to use the Send on the tuner to actuate a relay and move the cable to the converter into a dummy load via a relay? I already use the Send for my mfj-1026 noise canceller. I just have to drive a relay to do the two things. Question: Would it be possible to switch the relay fast enough to make sure no damage would occur to the converter during the transition to transmit? There may be settings for that in the FT-950.
