LVB Tracker and QST Questions

I have been looking for information on using the TCP interface on the LVB Tracker. The AMSAT-UK store lists the board http://shop.amsat.org.uk/shop/article_8/LVB-Traker-USB_TCP-Interface-bare-P… but the US AMSAT store does not carry it. Google searches have revealed nothing other than ads that indicate the tracker has the TCP interface. I am very interested in contacting someone who has actually used the TCP interface. Page 100 of the July 2012 QST has a very interesting and encouraging article on the changing US Amateur Radio License Populations. I wonder if the AMSAT membership has experienced the same growth as the hobby in general. An article on the changing AMSAT membership similar to the QST article would be very interesting. 73 W9KE Tom Doyle

I have been a user of PocketSat since its old Palm PDA version (still supported, BTW!). It has since been updated/upgraded to PocketSat3 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - and there's an Android version, too. The "OSCAR News" review was, IMHO, a little weird. "Too many options," the reviewer wrote. For me, it is a simple program to use, and painless to update the Keps of my choice. I can go to any date and easily search for passes of the sats I am interested in. Both a "radar" map and a Earth view map is viewable. Of all the apps in that review, the author does note, "... [PocketSat] has the best web site for support, including a manual." For me, support is important. And being able to contact the program author with questions and ideas - and receiving timely replies - is valuable to me. Of the 300+ apps of all categories that I have downloaded/purchased for my iOS devices, PocketSat3 was the most expensive - at $25. When I consider the ease of use, the feature set, the available author, and the support message group that you get for that one-time fee, I have absolutely no reservations recommending PocketSat to all. well, i just found this under the user service agreement= 9) Determine your own precedence based on your current communications requirements for each pass. In general, all use is routine except for special circumstances. Typical Special usage is for demonstra- tions, and long term events. Priority usage may be for VIP demos or special one-time events. Use good judgment, being fair to all other usrs. To alert other users to your precedence/priority, Set your period and position comment as follows: STN CLASS PRECEDENCE PERIOD ICON POSITION COMMENT ----------- ---------- ------ ----- ------------------------ Mobile/HT Emergency .2 min any EMERGENCY Priority .5 min any PRIORITY Special 1 min any Special Routine 2 min any Off-duty,Enroute,...,etc Termnl Pkt* ALL X * 2 N/A Short BText Base Stns ALL X * 2 House Off-Duty GPS Traker ALL X * 2 GPSxyz N/A so, i guess routine notification status will work.
