LOOKING FOR A FULL-DUPLEX FM MOBILE/PORTABLE SATELLITE STATION? I’m offering my Kenwood TM-D710A VHF/UHF Dual Band FM mobile transceiver for sale. I purchased it June 25, 2011. It is in excellent/like new condition. I have the original box, packing materials, and cabling. It has no scratches and works as advertised. I cut off the original power connector and replaced it with a pair of Anderson Power Poles. The original connectors and unused power cable are supplied. Included with this are two accessories: 1. Aftermarket programming cable (serial) 2. Green Light Labs GPS-710 GPS unit for APRS operation This is an excellent radio. I have made hundreds of satellite contacts with it, digipeated many packets via the International Space Station, in addition to using it for local repeater and simplex contacts. Light Weight Cuban Portable Satellite Station.

Hello, I want to share with the group a picture of my ultra light weight Portable Satellite Station. This minimum configuration was being tested on yesterday SO-50 pass (Feb. 14, 01:20 UTC) on my roof. Sometimes I use better antennas (an arrow or a 70cm yagi, 2m 5/8 vertical) while operating portable, but when transporting a yagi or an arrow antenna is difficult I use this low efficient but yet capable light weight system that fits on my backpack. Channelized Kenwood TK-270(G) for 2m Uplink with a homebrew telescopic whip. 2. Hearphone with mic for improve the listening of weak and noisy signals, taken from my computer and modified to fitting both TX radio and RX connections. 3. Ultra Light Weight Antenna for 70cm, not too efficient on low elevation but it works great on higher than 20 degrees passes. 4. 12 Volt lead-acid battery, taken from my UPS when it stop to hold the enough amount of current, but it is still long enough for receiving during many hours. 5. My beloved treasure. AOR AR-3000A+ Communication Scanner, All Modes from 0.1 MHz to 2036 MHz. A fellow ham enthusiastic of vacuum tubes radios decided this receiver was too much complex for him, and I didn't wait a minute to buy it from him. 73, Raydel, CM2ESP, EL83sc

>FOX-1 with a 145/435 MHz singe channel FM transponder at end of the year, can anyone confirm if it's still year-end ? We are not manifested yet. We passed on a launch that was offered earlier this year because it was only to ISS altitude. So, we don't have an exact date, or even a vehicle or orbit to report, just that we are on the list. 73, Drew KO4MA

New sats on the horizon?

Been getting antsy about satellites with amateur radio capability that we can look forward to in the near future? Me too. So I looked around the web to glean some tidbits about what might be on our horizons in the near future if all goes well. Here are the ham sats projected for 2013 that I’m aware of: Turksat-3U, the Turkish 3U Cubesat with a planned launch from a site in China, in MAY 2013, with a projected 680KM orbit . The sat has a V/ U linear transponder: input of 145.940-145.990 and an output of 435.200-435.250 MHz. There will be a CW beacon on 437.225 MHz and a camera on board. KiwiSAT, is fight ready. AMSAT-ZL is hoping for a DNEPR launch in mid-2013 * KiwiSAT carries a 435 or 1268 MHz to 145 MHz linear transponder for SSSB/CW operation. * Transmit Power: 2 Watts PEP. * Beacon frequency: 145.885 MHz * Uplink: (U-Band) 435.265 to 435.235 MHZ LSB or * Uplink: (L-Band) 1268.880 to 1268.850 MHz LSB * Down link: 145.850 to 145.880 MHz USB The target will be to achieve a launch into a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of approximately 800km with a period of about 100 minutes. UKube-1, the UK Space Agency's sat has a planned launch from Baikonor in JUNE, 2013 on a Soyuz. UKube-1 will carry a set of AMSAT-UK FUNcube boards to provide an amateur radio 435/145 MHz linear transponder and a 1200 bps BPSK beacon for educational outreach. FunCube-1, AMSAT-UK’s sat planned launch in 2013 in an 600-700km orbit and will provide an amateur radio 435/145 MHz linear transponder that will have approx 500mW PEP output for SSB/CW communications and a 1200 bps BPSK beacon for educational outreach. Fox-1, a 1U AMSAT-USA Cubesat carrying an educational science experiment from Penn State University and an FM transponder with telemetry mode. Anticipated launch in 4Q, 2013 to a 650km orbit. Work on the proto-type is on-going. There is a currently a $25,000 matching challenge grant for funding donations in effect. Welcome to anyone with more current or accurate info.
