An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Eleanor Palmer School, London, United Kingdom on 04 Nov. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 09:51 UTC. It is recommended that you start listening approximately 10 minutes before this time. The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between NA1SS and VK6MJ. The contact should be audible over portions of Australia and adjacent areas. Interested participants are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. Eleanor Palmer Primary School, a non-selective community school, is located in central London in the United Kingdom. London is an exciting and dynamic capital city and its schools are the best in the country, attributed to the social and ethnic diversity, excellent local leadership and the quality of teaching. Eleanor Palmer is a relatively small school of around 220 pupils with single classes of 30 children per year. Our youngest pupils are 3 years old and our oldest 11 years old. Due to our central London location we are a highly diverse and inclusive school with staff and children from many different backgrounds. Our pupils achieve highly as judged by national benchmarks. One of our core aims as a school is to inspire in all pupils a love of learning and the desire to continue to learn and we therefore seek to provide a rich and broad curriculum opening minds and creating opportunities. We hope that our contact with the ISS will inspire pupils to go on to learn more about space through the study of science, technology, engineering and math. Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows: 1. What have you seen that is more beautiful than earth? 2. Who or what inspired you to choose this job? 3. Does being in space make you feel differently about earth? 4. What can you learn from the ISS that you cannot learn on earth? 5. Will normal people who are not astronauts be able to visit space in the ISS one day? 6. How do you sleep? 7. Is it quiet up there in the ISS? 8. When you get back to earth, do you have to re-train your muscles? 9. Can you call home? 10. Do you all have to be scientists? 11. What do you think is the most important things children should know about space? 12. What time zone do you use? 13. Do you have plants on the ISS? 14. What has been your favourite experiment? 15. How does your brain respond to micro gravity? 16. How do you wash your clothes? 17. If you cry in space, with laughter, what happens to your tears? 18. What do you want to do when you come back to earth? 19. How do you get enough oxygen? 20. Is it more scary taking off from earth or returning to earth? 21. What is your energy source on the ISS? 22. Might try out PcSat32 down the road, but I haven't heard if that works with SASI tracker rotor controller. KB7ADL

InstantTrack on Win10?

Here is the odd question of the month: Has anyone found a way to run the ancient tracking program InstantTrack on a Win10 machine? Win10 gives a bunch of run compatibility and screen options all the way back to Win95; none work. The Troubleshooter says it should run on XP. Same old "can't run on this PC" response. Before I am advised to get out of the stoneage, I do run SatPc32, HRD and Orbitron. Just that IT has some stuff that I like. And, on XP, it is fast. Thanks! Ed K9EK EM69xd

I didn't hear XW-2E's CW beacon and was unable to activate the transponder at 13:56 UTC. However, XW-2F's CW beacon was strong and I made contact with several stations at 14:15 UTC. 73 Clayton W5PFG

AO-85 Uplink Frequencies??

Do we have a conscientious yet on the spread of the uplink frequencies for AO-85? Today (29th) at the ~ 2300 UT pass over me on the coast of NW Oregon I could hear two stations WA6DNR (CM87) and WB9AWX (DM04) and it is quite possible, after listing to the recording it sounded like WB9AWX (~23:02) may have come back to my call but no idea at that moment what freq I may have been on (as I was running up and down from 435.165-435.180 at that point) and at that time the bird would have been close to Max EI for myself and probably getting closer to LOS for WB. So, after four tries I am less than certain if I am getting into the bird and before the 5th trip would very much like some input on what the uplink freq's seem to be running for folks that are being successful from AOS to LOS. >From what I am reading, I may be handicapped with my HT-60 (Arrow antenna) but willing to keep trying for awhile as it has been a long wait for this one. Thanks for all suggestions! And, by the way, thanks to the FOX team for all their previous and current hard work.... either way it goes I do appreciate the effort. In Raleigh, NC I picked up Kjell in the middle of his answer to question 4. Kjell got through answering question 10 but after that there was a longer than normal break and then Kjell said goodbye and signed off. The end of that last transmission was at 10:24:04 Eastern, I believe that's 14:24:04 UTC. I was surprised he lost them that early because I had their pass ending at 10:26:06 Eastern (14:26:06 UTC). I was using keps downloaded last night from Celestrak in Orbitron. Orbitron and Google Chrome

It seems I have an issue running Orbitron and Chrome simultaneously. My laptop runs on Windows Vista (I know, there's the first problem, right), I also run a second monitor, and I am running the latest version of Orbitron. If I try and browse the web on the laptop monitor with Orbitron running on my second screen, the computer will inevitably lock up after a few minutes of browsing. Has anyone else ran into a similar problem and what was the solution, if any? For now, I start Orbitron, run TLE updates, then save the predictions to a file, exit Orbitron, then keep open the predictions in Notepad. Thanks Loon W3MAT
