GA satellite goo-roos. Today I was scanning the HRO catalogue looking for an inexpensive solution to full duplex contacts for the linear birds and I ran across the Kenwood TH-F6A hand held 144, 222, and 450 MHZ FM with SSB option on receive only. That sounds to me like a great fairly inexpensive solution.
Has anyone tried one of these yet for satellite work?
And I'm wondering if there would be a de-sense problem if used on receive with a 20 watt transmitter on a different band close to it?

I am trying to setup UISS to do packet on ISS. I can get UISS to come up,
but it says that AWG Packet Engine isn't running or at least UISS can't
I have the Packet Engine downloaded, but nothing I do seems to "activate"
it to the point that UISS recognizes it.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you!!
Just got a nice download of picture 12/12 Series 1 from ISS. Received 22 February 2015, 1717 UTC in grid EM79. Have a 5/8 wave vertical on the roof going to an old Yaesu 2 m multi-mode. Sent it through my Signalink USB, but I suspect that wasn't necessary. Used MMSSTV. Haven't figured out how to save it as jpg or gif yet, but I have it copied on a doc file. My first SSTV from the ISS!

Also received very strong and clear pictures using my Kenwood THD-7 on a
pass 1416 hrs plus, at my QTH in
This was despite very heavy rain and severe flooding in the area
Receiving SSTV from the ISS really CAN be simple: For my first time ever, I simply
fired up a $3 iOS app, and held my iPod touch near my Yaesu FT-60R's speaker,
and downloaded one of the images from the ISS.
I didn't think there was too much left in the hobby to excite me - but I was WRONG!!!

A special K1N Satellite QSL will be made for our satellite QSO's.
To order one, go to ClubLog and process a QSL under K1N/SAT log. We are only
charging $1 for these QSL's but additional contributions can be made if you
You will need to change the call in your log "temporarily" to K1N/SAT in
order for this to work.
Cards ordered in this way cannot be combined with your regular K1N QSL.
Regular K1N QSLs (OQRS) is found at
Or, you can send in the old fashioned way, but I suggest including a special
separate card clearly marked as SATELLITE QSO (it can be in the same
envelope as your regular K1N QSL) if you use the direct mail method with an
