Scott's Igate

Scott, the reason is because Direwolf required one flipped bit to fully decode the packet (ie, it didn't "hear" the correct bits, but tried flipping each single bit until what it decoded passed the checksum). That "[SINGLE]" means that it swapped a single bit to get a correct checksum. Direwolf WILL NOT pass ANY packets on to the APRS-IS unless it completely decodes the packet correctly (ie, that section should say [NONE], as in "no bits were flipped in order to get the checksum to work). Help me understand my iGate?

Hi everyone. I've been trying to improve the effectiveness of the SDR iGate that I have listening on 145.825 and am finally seeing more packets. Since duplicates don't show up on ariss.net, that explains why not all my received packets show up on the website. Just for my own education, I'll often compare what my iGate receives from the ISS or PSAT to what shows up on ariss.net to verify that mine are in fact duplicates. Today on a PSAT pass I noticed that one of my received packets was a duplicate (which is fine) but the other packet that I received was also NOT on the website. So, now we're not talking about a duplicate - it didn't get accepted to the site for some other reason. Here's the packet as I received it. I'm guessing that the issue is that it wasn't digipeated by a station ID of "ARISS*", but I'd like to know for sure. Rich - LoTW accepts FT8 now. My Mac logging program doesn’t have built-in digital mode identifications for anything beyond RTTY BUT it allows you to type “JT65” or “FT8” which is then sent along to LoTW. AO-7 Status

Just a note that AO-7 has been reliably in Mode B for the past several days. For the past several months, AO-7 has had a tendency to flip from Mode B to Mode A even in the presence of only modest uplink signals, likely due to poor illumination on the solar panels. As the seasons have progressed, it appears that the illumination situation has improved. Get on and make some QSOs! This would be a particularly good time to set up skeds for extreme range QSOs. According to DK3WN's illum software, from October 15th through November 21st, AO-7 will be in constant sunlight. During this period, the 24 hour timer will function and the satellite will spend 24 hours in Mode B then 24 hours in Mode A. Get those 10 meter antennas ready! 73, Paul, N8HM

LVB Tracker to SATPC32

I have not been able to get the LVB Tracker to talk to SATPC32 in my IC-9100. I am using a Keyspan USA 19HS USB-to-serial adapter between the LVB Tracker and my laptop (Windows 8, 64 bits). When I start the SATPC32 program, I get an error message "Port 1 could not be found". According to the device manager in my PC, the Keyspan 19HS has COM2 assigned. I selected COM2 for rotor setting. I think I am supposed to select the same COM2 for ServerSDX. But, I never get ServerSDX box on the screen. Appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks. George N3GS
