Have your bench DVM/VOM for testing Diodes within unit. 1. Failure [open] of the Toshiba 1S5188 diodes (D14, D16, D18, D20, D21) would cause remote control failures -- via DIN 8-pin connector. 2.) How busy are the linear transponder satellites?

I know that the FM satellites, primarily SO-50 and AO-85, can be quite congested during a pass. This is understandable, since each satellite presents only one channel. On the other hand, the linear transponder satellites can support multiple communication channels, due to the available bandwidth. This ranges from 20 KHz (XW-2A/B/C/D/F) to 100 KHz (FO-29, AO-7). From your experience running SSB, how congested or how utilized, is the bandwidth of these satellites? Is there usually plenty of room to spare, or is it a challenge to find a place within the available bandwidth to conduct a QSO? Thanks and 73, Mac Cody / AE5PH

SatReporter Hacked once Again

I have been accused of not supplying enough information So here it is I designed a SatReporting tool that encompases the ISS and NO-84 It draws information from the APRS-IS stream and presents it in a web form. I added a function where people could manually add a satellite observation This was exploited and I had to deal with the authorities and coped 65,000 emails from a vindictive individual in California I contacted his her ISP and they were dumb and clueless The help exceed my monthly internet bill in the the process. That stoped after I reported them and took away the manual reporting feature. I then let the system back on line and once again the same vindictive indivual was hitting my web site with a denial of service attack every second. I have had to report them again. AO-85 and the solar flare

With today's big X9.3 solar flare, AMSAT would like to collect as much telemetry as possible from AO-85 over the next 48 hours or so. If you can, please run FoxTelem (https://www.amsat.org/foxtelem-software-for-windows-mac-linux/) and feed the program unfiltered audio such as from a 9600 baud jack or an SDR receiver. Finding a short in Coax to Antenna

I used an MFJ Antenna Analyzer to quickly find the short in a 120’ run of coax to the roof. Just tune for the lowest frequency where the meter dips to 0 Ohms. Then calculate the quarterwave distance using the velocity factor for the coax. >From downstairs it was around 2.1 MHz or a very long distance. Suspecting it might be right at the Antenna, I avoided any ambiguity in trying to measure at the antenna end by adding a ten foot length of coax onto the analyzer and then measured the dip with that 10’ shorted. Turns out it was 31 MHz. Then used that 10’ connected to the roof end of the coax and got the dip at exactly the same 31 MHz showing the short was right at the connector. Having the 10’ length of test cable made the measurement much more friendly at 31 MHz compared to maybe 900 MHz which it might have been 2 inches from the analyzer… Which the analyzer couldn’t do anyway… Bob, WB4APR
