Just FYI: In the latest Amsat Journal there is a story about Fox Telemetry that includes an interesting analysis of restarts in relation to the SAA. (apologies, I can't remember the name of the author or the title) By coincidence, one of the YouTube channels I watch is "Curious Droid", which recently released a video on this exact topic. The long scientific life of Kozai ended recently with his death at ~90 years old Kozai and Lidov proposed a mechanism for why the Luna 3 probe decayed into the Earth's atmosphere when everyone believed it would last "forever". L/v operation on AO-92

with completion of a home brew "cheap yagi" on 1296, would attempt to work AO-92 on the L/v band. Can anyone suggest how I switch from the U/v configuration to L/v on SATPC-32 and other related info? Thanks - Chuck N7BFO

Victor Kudielka and AO-13

The recent mention of the work by Kozai and Lidov and it's relation to AO-13 stimulated a number of long dormant memories. I've always been in awe of Dr. Victor Kudielka, OE1VKW who, using 80286 (?) technology, was able to apply their work to predict the demise of AO-13. Prior to launch I don't think any of us had considered the possibility that asymmetries in the shape of the earth could cause fluctuations in the eccentricity of AO-13's final orbit that would, without affecting the spacecraft's total energy, lower the perigee to the point where re-entry would occur. Which leads me to wonder about Victor's status these days. I can't find any reference to him post 2013. Rules for AMSAT Awards updated

A few months ago we added Washington, DC counting the same as a state. Today, we continued to align our awards with the ARRL. Our rules stated contacts had to be made within 25 miles or 40 kilometers from your home location. We have now amended the rules to read within 50 miles or 80 kilometers.
