An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at Vidya Mandir Inter College, Meerut, India on 23 Aug. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 08:22 UTC. It is recommended that you start listening approximately 10 minutes before this time.The duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact will be a telebridge between OR4ISS and IK1SLD. The contact should be audible over Italy and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be conducted in English. VidyaMandir Inter School was established in 1988 fulfilling the aspirations of Mrs Shakuntla Kaushik a dedicated women who upheld the cause of education throughout her life. The school caters to the needs of over 1000 of students from classes nursery-12th, it is a co-educational school & are recognized by the state government with an approved for both the mediums. The school provides ample facilities including a well stocked library & a playground etc. The school organizes a wide range of co-curricular activities in music, dance, drama, art & craft, science exhibition, yoga, seminar, debate such free services like health care are also available for students & staff, the school lays emphasis on holistic education, discipline, character building & life skills are given the highest priority. The School not only organized but also participated in major events year by year. The recent activity which has caught momentum is ARISS which is active all the world over and now has come as a great opportunity for VIDYA MANDIR School to be the first is our area. analog the hard way

Fortunately I'm far enough north that I can work at, and mess up a bit, getting into the analog sats while I have the footprint all to myself for part of some passes. Making slow progress, I've been working at this for a long time, getting back on the satellites. Trying to do it with older equipment is challenging. The radio is a FT-726R (no CAT provision) so Doppler correction is manual. The antenna pair are a helix on 435 and 8 element quad on 2M. on a 10M (33 ft) tower. Elevation is fixed at about 25 degrees, rotator is Ham IV (I need to move the rotator controller closer - it weighs less than the radio). I can copy, without preamps, satellites on both bands down to about 1.5 degrees above the horizon. Software is GPredict (OS is Elementary, Linux). Yes, lots of complications as I can't manage everything fast enough, so I'm looking to simplify things one at a time. First, I need to get the actual Doppler shift info up on a screen as I must enter is manually. Using the Doppler per 100MHz shown on GPredict which a calculator to set the radio works but is far from practical. I'd like to bring up actual Uplink, Downlink Doppler on the screen, but it hasn't been evident how to do that. GPredict maybe isn't the right solution, as I remember it was available in the DOS Instant Track. Then maybe an Arduino controller for the antenna pointing. With better organization of the shack I think it would work. The longer term goal is to get familiar with digital satellites. I'd like some help, starting maybe with the Doppler display problem. DATE August 20, 2018 To All RADIO AMATEURS BID: $ANS-232.01 On May 20th, 2018, a pair of microsatellites, DSLWP-A and DSLWP-B, were successfully launched into a lunar transfer orbit aboard a Chinese CZ-4C launch vehicle. Telemetry signals were soon received from both satellites, although DSLWP-A was lost the following day. On May 25th, DSLWP-B was successfully placed in lunar orbit. Since then, it has continued transmitting GMSK and JT4G telemetry data, including SSDV digital images, and a short message relay service. More than 40 amateur radio operators around the world have successfully received the satellite. At the request of the Harbin Institute of Technology, AMSAT hereby designates DSLWP-A as Lunar-OSCAR 93 (LO-93) and DSLWP-B as Lunar- OSCAR 94 (LO-94). "Today, our country's dreams of greater achievements in space are within our grasp," said NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine. "This accomplished group of American astronauts, flying on new spacecraft developed by our commercial partners Boeing and SpaceX, will launch a new era of human spaceflight. Today's announcement advances our great American vision and strengthens the nation's leadership in space." The agency assigned nine astronauts to crew the first test flight and mission of both Boeing's CST-100 Starliner and SpaceX's Crew Dragon. NASA has worked closely with the companies throughout design, development and testing to ensure the systems meet NASA's safety and performance requirements. "The men and women we assign to these first flights are at the forefront of this exciting new time for human spaceflight," said Mark Geyer, director of NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. "It will be thrilling to see our astronauts lift off from American soil, and we can't wait to see them aboard the International Space Station." This event will take place on Saturday, 18 August 2018. Even if you don't use Twitter, these posts are available to anyone using a web browser at: http://twitter.com/WD9EWK + While many are preparing for the first Phase 4 amateur payload in a geostationary satellite, the first Phase 5 amateur payload is already operational in an elliptical orbit around the Moon. The last transmissions from LongJiang 2 were on 2018-08-05 from 00:30 to 02:30 UTC and from 07:30 to 09:30 UTC on 435.400 MHz and 436.400 MHz. Various experiments are being carried out with GMSK and JT4G downlink signals. Stations with 'normal' amateur equipment can receive the downlinks quite well. Downlink signals have even been received with no more than an Arrow antenna, no preamp. DK5LA was the first to have his signals relayed through LongJiang 2 on 2018-07-15. On August 4, the first picture of an onboard camera was downlinked with SSDV. Other experiments will follow later. Why not give LongJiang 2 a try? In spite many countries reachable particularly on FO-29 they report not hearing much traffic except for regular QSO's with Thailand thanks to Kob, E21EJC. Active operators reachable around the Indian Ocean (West Africa, Middle-East, Asia and Oceania) may not be looking that way as they are not expecting any traffic and also due to time difference. [ANS thanks Experimental Radio Service for the above information.] + Chinese state missile maker CASIC and its commercial space subsidiary Expace is preparing to launch its Kuaizhou-1A (Y8) solid rocket before the end of September, carrying the Centispace-1-1S test satellite into 700 km SSO. This mission will be additional to the approximately 35 being planned by main space contractor CASC for 2018.This means that together with CASC, emerging players like Expace, Landspace and potentially OneSpace, there could be around 40 Chinese launches in 2018.
