My first contact with Frank was on AO-27 in January 2012 and I had worked him many times since then. He was ready to offer his help and actually helped me on many occasions including my roving in Newfoundland in 2012. What I admired in him is how he always managed to add a personal touch to a QSO even on the busiest passes... Rest in Peace, my friend. Nikolai VE3NKL

My first ever linear contact was with Frank on VO-52. Never knew him personally but will miss hearing "Echo Mary 55" Endaf N6UTC

Washington State Salmon Run this Weekend

Although satellite contacts do no not count in the scoring of Salmon Run 2018, I will be in Grid DN06 (Prosser WA) with my gear. I will try to be on each AO-91, AO-92 and SO-50 contact during the weekend from Friday (2:00PM local PDT) to Sunday (1600 local PDT). I hope you hear me and via-versa. JohnN7AME

I would like to add my condolences to go to Frank's family and friends. As others have mentioned Frank has always been a friendly voice on the birds. He would often seek me out on SSB birds and say hello. More surprising, if I was working a special event call or club call he would recognize my voice and say "Hello Daryl" ! We made cw QSO via AO7b on Feb 24 (7650 km) after a dozen attempts and we considered to try via FO29 when apogee would permit... DATE September 11, 2018 To All RADIO AMATEURS BID: $ANS-254.01 AO-92 to Try Imaging Hurricane Florence September 13-14 AMSAT Vice-President of Operations, Drew Glasbrenner, KO4MA says that the camera on AO-92 is planned to be used to try to image Hurricane Florence during North American east coast passes on Thursday, September 13, and Friday, September 14. AO-92 will not be in its U/V FM voice transponder operation during these passes. Ground stations should standby and not attempt to access AO-92 during this time. Voice operation will be available later during these days. The high speed image data will be transmitted on the 145.880 MHz downlink.
