Dear AMSAT member Thailand’s regulator, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), has issued the special callsign, E2STAYHOME, to the Radio Amateur Society of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King (RAST) for use during the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. This is because it is very important for people to boost their immune systems to fight off germs that can enter their bodies and to reduce the chance of getting infected by the COVID-19 virus. Now, it is very important to stay home and to keep a distance of at least one metre from others, if this is possible, which is one way to help prevent the spread of the disease on a global basis. This is a rare opportunity for ham radio operators who are interested in satellite communications to legally communicate with Thai amateur radio stations by means of the Es’hail-2 or QO-100 geostationary satellite which licensed by the Thai regulator, the NBTC, in response to requests from RAST, and using the special callsign E2STAYHOME on the evenings of each working day in Thailand and on every weekend. The operating schedule is as follows: Monday to Friday, 1100 - 1500 UTC Saturday and Sunday, 0800 - 1500 UTC all days after 1600 UTC and up to 2200 UTC Thailand has an emergency curfew in place. please STAY HOME!! During these times, Thai hams will be operating using this callsign on all bands and in all modes, including all satellite modes under the supervision of the Radio Amateur Society of Thailand (RAST) in an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and they will be QRV from today until July 15, 2020. Warning used Lame SDR Mini for projects.

Dear AMSAT member I have Ham TV projects through to balloon ham radio and to work for uplink to present amateur radio of Thailand to geostationary satellite Es'hail-2 or QO-100 by Express DVB transmitter program. I gradually buy to seller within 2 years have 4 sets for Lame SDR Mini for project but order set 3 of the goods have burden of defects caused product error and having to claim the goods.the goods are damaged during delivery or there is no quality check QC before sending to the enduser. I test the goods Lame SDR Mini to connect to SDR console software and seen control panel for new drive and not have respond red or green LED on hardware. I claim the Lame SDR Mini with the seller 3 months ago I dont received the return goods replacement and very long time to contacting the seller. Therefore I think that if you choose to use Lame SDR Mini for the project can be careful and test for sure because the product has a disadvantage but seller is still being made for sale. Each year the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) sponsors Field Day as a “picnic, a campout, practice for emergencies, an informal contest and, most of all, FUN!” The Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT) promotes its own version of Field Day for operation via the amateur satellites, held concurrently with the ARRL event. For 2020, the event takes place during a 27-hour period from 1800 UTC on Saturday June 27, 2020 through 2100 UTC on Sunday June 28, 2020. Those who set up prior to 1800 UTC on June 27 can operate only 24 hours. AMSAT Director of Contests and Awards Bruce Paige, KK5DO, has an- nounced the rules for the 2020 event. Paige notes that "AMSAT has followed the ARRL when it comes to the date, times and most rules with regard to Field Day. [ARRL has made some modifications due to COVID-19]. With that in mind, AMSAT is going to have to adapt as well." Paige further elaborates, "What we will do for AMSAT Field Day is con- centrate on rovers and operating from home." In line with this new concentration, the awards issued this year will be modified. When commanded on by control operators, the transponder is active for about two minutes be- fore reverting to telemetry transmissions only. Patrick Stoddard, WD9EWK, remarks that AO-27 wasn't originally intended to be an FM satellite. It lacks the audio filtering normally seen with a n FM receiver, since its uplink receiver was going to be used for data. With the lack of audio filtering on the uplink receiver, AO-27 was used for tests with D-Star radios. The Wayback Machine has captures of the former ao27.org web site, de- tailing how those tests were done. Two radios were used for those D- Star QSOs, one for uplink and the other for downlink). Many are hopeful that control stations will eventually be able to re- cover the satellite sufficiently to provide more regular operation. AMSAT is developing a satellite program that should see amateur transponders in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and eventually High Earth Orbit (HEO) GOLF is an acronym for "Greater Orbit, Larger Footprint" The goal of the GOLF program is to work by steps through a series of increasingly capable spacecraft to learn skills and systems for which we do not yet have any low-risk experience. Among these are active at- titude control, deployable/steerable solar panels, radiation tolerance for Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) components in higher orbits, and propulsion. The first step is to be one or more Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites similar to the existing AO-91 and AO-92, but with technologies needed for higher orbits. With proven technologies, an interim high LEO or Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite would follow on. The eventual goal is a High Earth Orbit (HEO) similar to AO-10, AO-13, and AO-40, but at a currently affordable cost combined with signifi- cantly enhanced capabilities which in turn will allow the use of much less complex ground stations. Go to the Spacecraft menu and select Husky (or something else if you have changed the name). In the upper left is a section that says "Name (for Keps)" and the box to the right should say "HuskySat-1". Just change that to HO-107. Done. Note that HuskySat-1 is no longer in the downloaded keps, so the one you have will get older and more out-of-date until you change the name. Don't forget you will need to do something similar with MacDoppler or SatPC32 or any other tracking program you have. We have over 20 signed up for the qualifications event this coming weekend. We believe that based on the diversity, quality, and positive can-do spirit, that we have a chance at being competitive and moving on to the final round in late summer. We had a successful team organizational meeting last night are are looking forward to a Friday 5pm Pacific start time. Horizontal or Vert Polarization??

Newbie getting into sats. Initially I have 5el 2m & 5el 440 for rooftop mount with only azimuth rotation and fixed elevation. Recommended polarization for each band? Eventually will get el/az rotator and circular polarization/switching but thats a ways off.' Have other 2m and 440 beams but cannot find good article on phasing lines for discreet antennas to achieve circular polarization 73 Roger N3RC Sebastopol, Ca.

I've come back to the hobby and AMSAT after a many years away, and it's great to see that the passion, interest and fun is still there. Back in 2000 when I turned the station off, email was about the only way to communicate outside of a local club, so I'm surprised that email still seems to be about all there is. For someone not in a club, or not wanting to be part of a club, and without any known fellow satellite focused operators nearby it can be a challenge at times to find answers when Google can't help and a simple question to a person would probably be quite quick. I've searched back through the archive here to look for real time chat tools such as IRC, Slack and Discord but these don't appear to have caught on, but in the spirit of trying to fill a potential gap I've fired up a Discord server at https://discord.com/channels/711956593117233254/711956593117233256 Whilst this does have a voice capability it's mainly text chat, but can have separate channels for different topics such as antennas, tracking etc and can have channels for countries to focus on too. DTUSat-2 at 2401.835 MHz. Object 40030. Sends out CW beacon every 30 seconds. No battery power so operates only in sunlight. Daylight passes are normally from 11:00 to 13:00 every day. Beacon can be a missing, intermittent, full or partial CW message. It has a good signal on 2.4 GHz. As Doppler is extreme, it's best viewed on a SDR waterfall. A picture of DTUSat-2's waterfall signal is on my QRZ page. It's a good signal to test your 2.4 GHz setup and tracking. Most satellites on 2.4 GHz only turn on and down link their data when over the command station. You must be in command station's foot print to hear the signal. GL
