ARISS anticipates that the contact would be held between July 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022. Crew scheduling and ISS orbits will determine the exact contact dates. To maximize these radio contact opportunities, ARISS is looking for organizations that will draw large numbers of participants and integrate the contact into a well-developed education plan. The deadline to submit a proposal was November 24th, 2021 and has now closed. When that happened to me it was due I accidentally bump the USB cable from my laptop to the 9700 such that it made a disconnect then reconnect (you can hear the sound of USB disconnect and connecting thing). Hello, The CAMSAT XW-3 (CAS-9) amateur radio satellite will be launched at UTC 03:11:31 on 2021-12-26 , and will be deployed at 98.858°E and 28.413°S at UTC 03:35:58, location close to Western Australia. Radio amateurs will receive CW beacon and GMSK telemetry signals approximately 38 seconds after the satellite is separated from the launch vehicle, and then the linear transponder will be put into use after approximately 49 seconds. CAMSAT is looking for the CW beacon and telemetry monitoring from Western Australia, South America and North America during the first orbit of the satellite. TNX & 73! New release of AMSAT Status for Android

I first announced this over a year ago on the mailing list, but I have finally gotten back to this project. I have an Android app I've developed for publishing status updates to the AMSAT website and pulling down previous reports through their published API. I have been working on a few improvements to it since the last update and would like to get it into people's hands in time for the upcoming ARISS SSTV event happening Dec. 26th - 31st. I don't want to abuse my time on this mailing list with updates so please email me directly if you want to follow along or join in on the beta, please email me directly. I currently have the app on the Android Play Store in a closed beta, but hope to have it open publicly soon. I just need to make sure I don't have any critical issues or compliance problems with the use of the AMSAT name. Since last year, I have fixed a few bugs on different Android platforms and also added a Google Maps view which shows the location of satellite reports on a map. It will also save your preferred satellite and has a find me button for filling in the grid square automatically. I am seeing on the list this new mode to use the satellites in Digital modes on FT4 or FT8 but I cannot understand how to set my radio a Kenwood TS-2000 And the WSJT-X program and the PSTRotator program. I had a try this evening on the RS-44 bird but I cannot set properly the doppler In the programs so I see the signal drifting. Please any advices? I updated my Kep file but I did something went wrong. Now when I start the program I get the message, No source file was found for the group Standard. Please select a source file for this group after the OK. Where do I find this file? I have been using this program for many years and never had this problem before. Any advice would be appreciated. IC 9700

Jim: I just switched from an FT-736R to an IC 9700 last March, somewhat reluctantly since I've had such a good run with the 736 since 1993. I only use the 9700 for satellite work, which is the same use I had for the 736 (I've never used a 910 so I can't compare that radio to a 9700). Thus, I'll confine my comments to the satellite arena. My joke about the 9700 is that it is a computer that has some radio characteristics. In short, once it's mated to the computer and software, it truly is an amazing piece of work on satellite. It is a dream to operate at that point handling doppler compensation without any problem whatsoever. In addition to its ability to handle a sophisticated connection to a computer without breaking a sweat, it has some nice features for basic satellite operation. One of those is the bandscope which lets me find other stations on the linear birds almost instantly. Another feature is the "automatic frequency control" (AFC) which I use on the FM birds only since, once enabled, it will cause the receive frequency to lock onto the signal and shift with it as doppler changes (I generally don't find it necessary to shift the uplink frequency when using FM). It truly makes a world of difference for me. I don't do EME (though I have thought about it and will likely try it in the future), so I don't have direct experience. However, there are multiple 9700 users that complain about frequency instability when using digital applications with it. Many of those folks have used a Leo Bodnar Reference Injection Board, which literally takes over from the 9700's internal frequency reference. It does require an external GPS reference clock. IC 9700

I'm considering replacing my IC910 used for satellite work and FT736R used mostly for 2M EME with a single IC9700. I'd appreciate hearing from folks who use the 9700 about their experiences. It will of course have to implement a set of coax switches and relays to allow the 9700 to be connected to 5 different antennas, three amps, three preamps, etc. But I'm mostly concerned about the cabling and interface to WSJT-X, a KPC9612, a sequencer for the EME side, etc. Interfacing the FTdx101D to WSJT-X required simple cabling but several settings in both the radio and WSJT-X, and another set of settings in WSJT-X for using that radio with a mast preamp and sequencer for 6 meters. All that was a bit painful to figure out. Any pitfalls with the IC9100? Jim, WD0E

SatPC32 Problem

In an effort to reconfigure my apps to work using WSJTX on FT4 something has gotten screwed up in SatPC32. I suspect it may be in a config file or something that needs to be manually changed. When I open SatPC32 now it ends up in the tray at the bottom of the screen and cannot be used to do anything including making configuration changes. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I tried rebooting to no avail. Rick, W2JAZ

FT4 Success on RS-44

I finally resolved my problems in configuring WSJT-X and SatPC32 to work this mode. As I began to suspect, there was some issue in using Win4IcomSuite alongside the other 2 applications. I still think there now may be a way to add Win4IcomSuite back into the setup. But at least I know it's easy to get working as I just made 2 FT4 QSOs on RS-44. ARISS is the groupthat puts together special amateur radio contacts between students around theglobe and crew members with ham radio licenses on the International Space Station (ISS). This will be a telebridge contact via amateur radio and students in Nuremberg, Germany who will take turnsasking their questions of Matthias Maurer, amateurradio call sign KI5KFH. LocalCovid-19 protocols are adhered to as applicable for each ARISS contact. The downlink frequency for this contact is 145.800MHZ and may be heard by listeners that are within the ISS-footprint that alsoencompasses the telebridge station. ARISS team memberJan Poppeliers in Aartselaar, Belgium using radio call sign ON4ISS, will serve as the ARISSrelay amateur radio station. The ARISS radio contact is scheduled for December21, 2021 at 9:24 am CET (Nuremberg, DE), (8:24 UTC, 3:24 am EST, 2:24 am CST,1:24 am MST and 12:24 am PST). Berufliche SchuleDirektorat 1 Nürnberg (about 2,500students) is a vocational school in the south of Germany. Courses includeelectrical engineering, electronics, information technology, andmechanics/mechatronics. Classes combine theoretical lessons and practicaltraining in workshops and industrial settings. Help with FT4 on RS44

I'll resent this since the screen shot that was attached to the earlier message is probably to large a file for this list. I've tried everything I know including watching YouTube tutorials but I cannot get FT4 to work on RS44. My setup is as follows: IC-9700 Win4IcomSuite SatPC32 2 copies of WSJTX on for RX only. I can hear and see my signal on the RX version of WSJT-X but no decodes. Screen shot of the widegraph is attached Any ideas appreciated Rick, W2JAZ
