I have noticed that nasabare has a catalogue number as 47311 but SATNOGS has it as 99758 but their KEP file shows 47311. Anyone have a SATNOGS connection to get this corrected ? 73 Frank WA2NDV

Best Project first: If you have multiple projects and limited resources, you need to choose the project that will be the most successful or Get the best bang for the buck. What are you goals for an Amateur-Radio project for ISS? #1, Generate interest in Amateur radio capabilities. #2, Encourage Non-Amateur-radio people to possibly get-into the Amateur-Radio or SWL Hobby. #3, Get more people excited about the ISS and is open programs that can allow the average person to participate. #4, Provide the ISS crew with some entertaining and excitement about their projects. #5, Language universal projects work best. The APRS project has a low following and does not generate much excitement or newspaper coverage. SSTV does great and all 5 of the listed categories. Why is SSTV better the APRS? SSTV is a project that will cross over between two hobbies,Short-wave-listening and Amateur radio.Most Short-wave-listening and Amateur operators are capable of receiving and decoding SSTV signals. With 10's of millions of SWL+AR stations receiving these signals month after month, you will see a huge interest in the abilities of Amateur Radio on ISS. You must have heard the saying "A picture is worth a thousand words". When MarexMG was running the SSTV Program in Space Station Mir, out SSTV images were showing up in magazines and newspapers around the world. When was the last time you saw a New paper or magazine story [Non-ham] talking about APRS from ISS?Never! The MarexMG SSTV project was a huge hit.Schools around the world were setting up receiving stations to receive the images.I remember seeing a new story showing how the Great-Lakes ices was changing week after week, based on images from Mir SSTV. If we want to build up a large amount of support for existing and future Amateur radio projects on ISS, then we need to put our best project front and center. I am not talking about turning on SSTV for 1 or two weekend per year. I am talking about turning it on for a FULL 6 consecutive months in a row 24 hours a day, 7-days a week. Image cycle duration: Let's keep is Simple and Safe. Recommended format: To provide the greatest access and reduce Heat stress on the radio, I recommend using SSTV format Robot-36. The reason for the low-quality Robot-36, is because the transmitting time is only about 36 seconds for each image.I know this is the lowest quality image format, but since it’s the shortest, we can keep the radio cooler. All transmitters run MUCH hotter in Zero Gravity! And if the ISS Air pressure is turned down from 14 psi to 10 psi [Usually during space walks], the radio will also run hotter at 10 psi, than at 14 psi. Maximum number of ISS-transmitted images per hour. 1 image every 5 minutes or 20 per hour.And depending on heatsink temperature and cooling fan status, we may need to reduce the number of pictures per hour to keep the radio cool. My goal is to expand the presence of Amateur Radio on ISS and other satellites and the best tools we have on ISS today is Slow Scan TV. Let's generate some worldwide excitement and make this hobby grow. Turn off APRS! Turn ON SSTV for a FULL 6 consecutive months in a row 24 hours a day, 7-days a week. ARISS is thegroup that puts together special amateur radio contacts between students aroundthe globe and crew members with ham radio licenses on the International Space Station (ISS). This will be a Multipoint Telebridge Contact via Amateur Radio between the ISS and students fromSpaceKids Global in Winter Park, FL, along with Girl Scouts working with GirlScouts of Citrus. Students will take turns asking their questions of ISSAstronaut Shane Kimbrough, amateur radio call sign KE5HOD, during theARISS radio contact. English is the language expected to be used during thecontact. The downlink frequency forthis contact is 145.800 MHZ and may be heard by listeners within the ISS footprintthat encompasses the ARISS radio telebridge ground station. The ARISS team in Casale Monferrato, Italy willuse call sign IK1SLD to serve as the ARISS relay amateur radio ground station.Each student asking a question on the ARISS radio will be conferenced in fromhome or while being social-distanced at their facility. TheARISS radio contact is scheduled for July 21, 2021 at 1:47 pm EDT (Winter Park,FL) (17:47 UTC, 12:47 pm CDT, 11:47 am MDT, 10:47 am PDT). SpaceKidsGlobal partnered with Girl Scouts of Citrus Council to create the Making Spacefor Girls Program. This is a year-long STEAM-enrichment program for girls ingrades K-12, teaches them about space exploration and communications and othervarious topics, with the intent of inspiring them to pursue STEAM careers. SpaceKidsGlobal is hosting the ARISS contact in conjunction with this Program that providesvirtual activities reaching over 600 students from 89 Girl Scout councilsacross 46 different states and countries. The curriculum aligns with the stepsfor Girl Scout badge requirements. During the weeks leading up to this ARISScontact, the Program included virtual activities about space technology, andamateur radio operations as well as hands-on activities revolving aroundelectronics and technology. The Program also invited guestspeakers in the fields of space exploration and space technologies, andincluded virtual courses in Space Science 101 and Humans in Space. The Programalso launched online (summer of 2020) the Making Space for Girls STEAMChallenge and, as a result, hundreds of girls submitted their experiments, artdesign, or space-themed essay to the ISS. Of course, lots of people *like* APRS and work other stations on ISS passes. Personally I prefer making packet contacts with people on ISS passes and I don't find it boring at all. But I'll admit, SSTV is probably more popular - but that may be because it happens in limited times, people hear it's going on and make it a priority to get the image. If it was on 24/7 that might seem get pretty boring pretty quick. Something new

Tried something new tonight. I recently bought a Mobilinkd TNC3, a little portable APRS TNC that works with your smartphone via Bluetooth. I set it up to work with my yaesu FT8900R and linked it to APRS Droid. Made two qso's on the ISS Digipeater tonight with it. Howdy gang, I got a nice suprise at the Glacier Waterton Ham Fest near Glacier National Park this weekend. WI7P Randy from Utah stopped in and worked satellite for our special event W7G DN38. Randy is really an enthusiastic Rover and has covered all of Montana and most of the Unitated States. We had several great conversations and I am changing my portable setup like Randy's with a Heil Headset and FS-3 footswitch. I posted a couple pictures of Randy working AO-91 and AO-27 on Amateur Radio Satellite Facebook page.. Bill K7MT
