Upcoming ARISS Contact Schedule as of 2022-12-23 17:00 UTC Quick list of scheduled contacts and events: TBD The crossband repeater continues to be active. If any crewmember is so inclined, all they have to do is pick up the microphone, raise the volume up, and talk on the crossband repeater. So give a listen, you just never know. ####################################################################################################################################### Comments on making general contacts (***) I have been seeing a lot of traffic on Facebook and I suspect on other social media sites with people asking why they are not hearing the crew make general contacts. First off the crew is very busy on the ISS and they simply may not have the time to just pick up the microphone and talk. Also, one needs to be aware of their normal daily schedule. I have listed below the constraints that we at ARISS have to follow in order to schedule the school contacts. Hopefully this will help you better schedule your opportunities. Typical daily schedule Wakeup to Workday start= 1.5 hours Workday start to Workday end=12 hours Workday end to Sleep= 2 hours Sleep to wakeup= 8.5 hours The crew's usual waking period is 0730 - 1930 UTC. The most common times to find a crew member making casual periods are about one hour after waking and before sleeping, when they have personal time. They're usually free most of the weekend, as well. SSTV events are not that often. So please check out https://www.ariss.org/ for the latest information or watch for the ARISS announcements. And don’t forget that the packet system is active. As always, if there is an EVA, a docking, or an undocking; the ARISS radios are turned off as part of the safety protocol. SatPC32ISS with DXLab

I just received this from Erich, the SatPC32 author. I made the changes to my Program Files (x86) SatPC32 directory. All is working 100%. It's nice to be able to auto log the IO-117 QSO's :-) Thank you Erich... 73 and a HNY Jeff kb2m I don't use DXLab. But have you ever tried it with SatPC32ISS? DXLab utilizes the SatPC32 DDE string. SatPC32ISS sends the same string (always or when the satellite is audible, takes that from SatPC32). Create a new sub folder SatPC32ISS in the SatPC32 program folder. Copy the two sub folders Maps2D and BM-Maps2D and SatPC32ISS.exe from the main folder into the new folder. Then rename SatPC32ISS.exe to SatPC32.exe. You can start it with a shortcut on the desktop. It should then appear to DXLab exactly like the normal SatPC32. 73s,Erich, DK1TB

Hi, I do run ok tracking the birds on W10 downloading free http://amsat.org.ar/pass.exe and installing, besides downloading http://amsat.org.ar/wispdde.exe and installing/selecting as Orbitron, it's usefull to place both icons on desktop. On wispdde you can set rigs, rotor and ports either real RS-232 or bluetooth. Wispdde handles TS-2000 and many other rigs, as well as different rotors. Concurrently running both with administrator privilegies on W10, will control dopplers and rotor, many use that way succesfully for last years. What this provides is an easy and fast way to just click on any satellite in view to receive/operate, setting automatically rig freqs/dopplers/modes and rotor az/el, without any worry of loading keps, allowing watching on local time and detecting your location automatically. Additionally for reception only a generic USB SDR using HDSDR configured as Orbitron will do. FO-118 H/U Mode

All: The H/U mode on FO-118 seems to be working well. I noticed that the up-link is in the upper portion of the 15 meter band which seems a bit unusual since HF satellites in the past like RS-12/13 had up links that were much lower in the band i.e., 21.210 though 21.300 kHz. I wonder if there's been any changes in the rules regarding frequency allocations set aside for HF satellites. A quick glance of the FCC website doesn't show anything specific. Tony -K2MO

Changes to AMSAT-NA Mailman Message Delivery - FYI Only - No Action Required

AMSAT-BB, The AMSAT IT Team is aware of the inconsistent deliverability of AMSAT-BB e-mails. It affects several of our lists/reflectors. We see that some messages are only delivered to certain domains (ie. yahoo.com, but not gmail.com, etc.) It seems that this issue is more prevalent on lists with a lot of traffic, namely AMSAT-BB and ANS. This also seems to change randomly. We have been working on several solutions to try to improve deliverability. We are currently implementing one that is expected to resolve a lot of the issues noted. As a result of the changes, you may see that the "to" or "from" format of the e-mails may look different. However, the function of the lists are unchanged. You don't need to change anything on your end. This message will serve as the first test of the changes; and we hope to see that it is delivered far and wide. We will be monitoring for any indications that we have somehow made things worse. Rest assured, we will undo the changes if that seems to be the case. We appreciate everyone's patience, as we work to solve these complex problems. Will the IC-9700 tune down to NOAA Satellites.

I was wondering if the IC-9700 will tune out of band to the NOAA satellites around 137Mhz. And if so can the band with be opened up wide enough for proper reception. Mike N6IMF
