The ARRL is running a Field Day forum at the Hamvention. I will not be able to attend, but suspect there is someone on this list that will. Would you be so kind as to ask the ARRL representatives two questions "on the record" about the ARRL Field Day rules for satellites? I have been told from several sources the ARRL rules allow one contact per any FM satellite. ==== First question of two ==== Does this mean one per each FM voice satellite, or only one FM voice contact period? ==== Second question ==== I have also been told the ARRL rules consider 'satellite' as one band. In other words if I work W1AW on FO-29 SSB, then working W1AW on JO-97 SSB would be a dupe. Is that correct? (I understand in the AMSAT contest it is NOT a dupe.) Thanks and 73, Joe kk0sd

ARISS anticipates that the contact would be held between January 1, 2023, and June 30, 2023. Crew scheduling and ISS orbits will determine the exact contact dates. To maximize these radio contact opportunities, ARISS is looking for organizations that will draw large numbers of participants and integrate the contact into a well-developed education plan. The deadline to submit a proposal is March 31, 2022. Repair of Mirage D1010

I'm again looking for suggestions for someone to repair a Mirage D1010 with no RF output. MFJ sent it back with a note that they had no finals for it. But I see those parts available in a couple of places with a web search. I could probably fix this myself but just don't have the time. The driver is an MRF644 and the finals are MRF650. I've not done any trouble shooting so it may not be these parts and the MFJ note didn't indicate they had done any either. Might be a relay or something else. Suggestions appreciated. Jim, WD0E

ARISS anticipates that the contact would be held between January 1, 2023, and June 30, 2023. Crew scheduling and ISS orbits will determine the exact contact dates. To maximize these radio contact opportunities, ARISS is looking for organizations that will draw large numbers of participants and integrate the contact into a well-developed education plan. The deadline to submit a proposal is March 31, 2022. Part of the “job description” for volunteer AMSAT Ambassadors is to “spread the gospel” of working satellites to clubs and conventions. My wife and I (she works the audio board and handles Chat Rooms) just finished my 143rd show to a wonderful club in Eugene, Oregon: the Valley Radio Club. They’ve been an ARRL Affiliate Club since 1932 - NINETY YEARS of support! Many AMSAT members there, too. https://www.valleyradioclub.org/ And it “feels” like lives are improving here in So California, as I just received a request to do a IN-PERSON presentation in June for a local club! (Have to tune up my projector and dust off the DaLite projection screen.) DRA SOUNDCARD ALT SIGNALINK

all, thanks to Craig, N6RSX, who referred me to Mastercommunications, which make a series of soundcards. https://www.masterscommunications.com/ I got the DRA-100RJ45 model. For this model it is compatible with the tigertronics signalink with regard to cables and wiring. I am using the DRA with my Yaesu FT847, soundmodem software. After some change in software settings that Keven helped me thru, it is working fine. and am evaluating how it hears vs the signalink. So far its early days, but doing very well on MO-112 at lower elevations. One thing, with this DRA unit I can Tx 9600 bd rate on the FT847 with radio menu setting on 9600 or 1200. This model also has hardware pitt, with option of VOX. Other options are described on the website. Just thought some of you may want to see other choices out there. and the customer service is outstanding! 73 Christy KB6LTY

ARISS News Release No.22-24 Dave Jordan, AA4KN ARISS PR aa4kn(a)amsat.org FORIMMEDIATE RELEASE ARISSContact is Scheduled with Students at Rakia - Herzliya Science Center, Herzliya, Israel April11, 2022—Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) has receivedschedule confirmation for an ARISS radio contact between Axiom Mission-1 (Ax-1)astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and Israeli students atthe Rakia - Herzliya Science Center located in Herzliya, Israel. Ax-1 is the first private astronaut missionto the International Space Station. ARISS conducts 60-80 of these specialamateur radio contacts each year between students around the globe and crewmembers with ham radio licenses aboard the ISS. The Rakia - Herzliya Science Center (HSC) is an educationalinstitute that promotes STEM studies for students (about 1,500) in kindergartento high-school (K-12). It has diverse enrichment programs, in a variety ofscientific and technological fields including space, robotics, physics,computer sciences, and life sciences. One of the educational programs, a jointproject with Herzliya Science Center and ARISS, gives 200 Israeli high-schoolstudents the opportunity to manage all ARISS contacts between the school’sstudents and Astronaut Eytan Stibbe. The 'Tuval' program in which the studentsattend, teaches radio transmissions and satellite operations. The students, with help from professional guides, will beoperating the ground station for this contact and have spent the last fewmonths preparing to take their place as part of the Rakia mission. In 2011, HerzliyaScience Center successfully participated in a direct ARISS contact as callsign 4X4HSCwith Astronaut, Mike Fossum KF5AQG. The Space Laboratory of HSC operates an amateurradio satellite station (call sign 4X4HSC) that is used as part of the HSCeducational activities and for tracking of LEO satellites. The HSC amateurradio satellite station is supported by local radio amateurs of the IsraelAmateur Radio Club (IARC). This will be a direct contact via Amateur Radio allowing students to ask questions of Ax-1 AstronautEytan Stibbe, amateur radio call sign 4Z9SPC. Local Covid-19 protocols areadhered to as applicable for each ARISS contact. The downlink frequency forthis contact is 145.800 MHZ and may be heard by listeners that are within theISS-footprint of the Rakia-Herzliya ground station. Amateur radio operators in Herzliya, Israel willuse call sign 4X4HSC while operating the amateur radio ground station.
