Thank you Doug for making me aware for the possible scenario which may happen at my end. I will try with not so busy pass in beginning as you suggested. Btw my setup is 100% portable, I shall be operating from my rooftop or field, so need some time to be comfortable with it. Also I will schedule my activity, not all passes will be possible for me to work! Re. chasing your grid EN62VT with IO-117 we do get small window with pass of approx 5° or so. Will try our luck very soon. First off the crew is very busy on the ISS and they simply may not have the time to just pick up the microphone and talk. Also, one needs to be aware of their normal daily schedule. I have listed below the constraints that we at ARISS have to follow in order to schedule the school contacts. Hopefully this will help you better schedule your opportunities. Typical daily schedule Wakeup to Workday start= 1.5 hours Workday start to Workday end=12 hours Workday end to Sleep= 2 hours Sleep to wakeup= 8.5 hours The crew's usual waking period is 07:30 – 19:30 UTC. The most common times to find a crew member making casual periods are about one hour after waking up and about an hour before sleeping, when they have personal time. They're usually free most of the weekend, as well. SSTV events are not that often. So please check out https://www.ariss.org/ for the latest information or watch for the ARISS announcements. I am getting prepared to work this beautiful bird with my 14ele yagi & IC-705 in portable fashion. I still want to know how many members are successfully working IO-117 with Icom IC-705 (10W)? I have two of these, both running DSB capable firmware, but haven’t tried it out yet because tuning by up and down pushbutton would be very tricky to actually work. Quansheng UV-K5/K6 on satellites

Has anyone used the Quansheng UV-K5 or k6 (or other variants) on the satellites yet, especially the linear satellites? I see that there are now firmware mods to these HTs that not only allow for SSB reception-but also SSB transmission on 2m and 70cm. It is actually Double Side Band supressed carrier but several Youtube videos show it working well on 2m USB. So, since the satellites conventionally use LSB for the uplink, wouldn't the DSB transmit audio also provide a LSB signal that would be inverted to USB by the satellite? I wouldn't expect stellar performance out of these HTs but I do think a pair of them could make a budget friendly portable SSB station for some grid activations. What happened to Greencube IO-117?

Dear all, Few months back I was trying to work Greencube Satellite with my limited setup, I was able to receive signal packets & telemetry with my 7 ele uhf Arrow antenna, though I could never Transmit & successfully trigger this Bird, perhaps my IC-705 limited 10W power was the issue. Now I am equipped with a new High gain cross yagi (14ele) to test & try Greencube! I observed since more than a week Greencube is not QRV! Can anyone give idea what happened to this beautiful bird? I am quite eager to work via this satellite from my grid ML52JH. I would also like to get response/guidance from user with Icom IC-705 who worked this bird successfully. First off the crew is very busy on the ISS and they simply may not have the time to just pick up the microphone and talk. Also, one needs to be aware of their normal daily schedule. I have listed below the constraints that we at ARISS have to follow in order to schedule the school contacts. Hopefully this will help you better schedule your opportunities. Typical daily schedule Wakeup to Workday start= 1.5 hours Workday start to Workday end=12 hours Workday end to Sleep= 2 hours Sleep to wakeup= 8.5 hours The crew's usual waking period is 07:30 – 19:30 UTC. The most common times to find a crew member making casual periods are about one hour after waking up and about an hour before sleeping, when they have personal time. They're usually free most of the weekend, as well. SSTV events are not that often. So please check out https://www.ariss.org/ for the latest information or watch for the ARISS announcements. And don’t forget that the packet system is sometimes active. Check the status at https://www.ariss.org/ or http://www.issfanclub.eu to see if the packet system is active or not.
