SOLVED!: SatPC32 & TS-790, Auto mode selection problem

I'm very pleased to say that the issue of my TS-790 going to Auto LSB during Doppler updates from SatPC32 has been solved. Vince KB7ADL suggested a reset of the radio (hold A=B & turn radio on), which I did this evening and the problem disappeared. Now mode is kept as put from either SatPC32 or front panel with Auto off, and mode is automatically switched as designed with Auto mode select on. First off the crew is very busy on the ISS and they simply may not have the time to just pick up the microphone and talk. Also, one needs to be aware of their normal daily schedule. I have listed below the constraints that we at ARISS have to follow in order to schedule the school contacts. Hopefully this will help you better schedule your opportunities. Typical daily schedule Wakeup to Workday start= 1.5 hours Workday start to Workday end=12 hours Workday end to Sleep= 2 hours Sleep to wakeup= 8.5 hours The crew's usual waking period is 07:30 – 19:30 UTC. The most common times to find a crew member making casual periods are about one hour after waking up and about an hour before sleeping, when they have personal time. They're usually free most of the weekend, as well. SSTV events are not that often. So please check out https://www.ariss.org/ for the latest information or watch for the ARISS announcements. And don’t forget that the packet system is sometimes active. Check the status at https://www.ariss.org/ or http://www.issfanclub.eu to see if the packet system is active or not. AMSAT Volunteers needed for the upcoming 2024 Orlando Hamcation event on Feb 9 - 11

The new year is now upon us and that means the 2024 Hamcation in Orlando, Florida (Feb. 9 - 11) is just around the corner.The hamfest began in 1946 and in 2024 celebrates its 78th year having achieved the designation as being the 2nd largest gathering of ham operators in the world annually. Along with a myriad of popular amateur radio vendors and enormous tailgate area to peruse through, AMSAT will also be on hand and we could sure use your help. If last year's 21,800 attendees are any indication of what's ahead, we would greatly appreciate you sharing at least 2 to 4 hours of your time at the AMSAT booth sometime during the three-day event, introducing fellow hams to what amateur satellites are all about, helping those who maybe having problems getting on the air and best of all, connecting face to face with hams you've talked to on the satellites. Hi Gary, Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for the USB<->serial cables? On my system, I have a USB-serial cable for the PC-radio (TS-790) & a USB cable to the rotor controller (LVB Tracker), each on its own USB serial comm port with independent drivers. It sounds like maybe the comm port drivers have become disrupted in your system. SatPC32 & TS-790, Auto mode selection problem

I'd like to know if anyone on the list has a successful configuration for SatPC32 & the Kenwood TS-790. The issue I'm seeing is that whenever the 2m band is used at or above 145.800, the radio automatically sets itself to Auto LSB, regardless of whether or not it was in Auto mode selection to start with. I'm aware that Auto mode selection is a built-in operating convenience, but it's not convenient if the radio or the software changes that mode setting. If I try to use a 2m frequency on FM at or above 145.800, the rig goes to Auto LSB. After it does this, I can manually set it back to FM or USB or LSB without the Auto feature, but upon the next Doppler update from SatPC32 it goes back to Auto LSB....every single time. I've tried varying the CAT delay in SatPC32; no help. I've been in contact with Erich and he's been very patient and helpful, but the issue remains. Erich said there's no command from SatPC32 to enable the Auto mode select, and I believe him. That fact is supported by the external control manual which lists all the available commands for the rig under computer control...Auto mode selection isn't not listed in the commands. Anyone?
