ARISS News Release No.21-40 Dave Jordan, AA4KN ARISS PR aa4kn(a)amsat.org FORIMMEDIATE RELEASE ARISSContact is Scheduled with Students in France at Ecole publique de Bellême in Bellême, Pôlescolaire Igé/Le Gué de la Chaine in Belforêt en Perche, and Ecole de Nocé in Percheen Nocé June24, 2021—Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) has receivedschedule confirmation for an ARISS radio contact with astronauts. ARISS is thegroup that puts together special amateur radio contacts between students aroundthe globe and crew members with ham radio licenses on the International Space Station (ISS). This will be a Multipoint Telebridge Contact via Amateur Radio between the ISS and students fromthree schools in France. Students will take turns asking their questions of ISSAstronaut Thomas Pesquet, amateur radio call sign KG5FYG, during theARISS radio contact. French is the language expected to be used during thecontact. The downlink frequency forthis contact is 437.525 MHZ and may be heard by listeners that arewithin the ISS-footprint that also encompasses the ARISS radio telebridgestation. The ARISS team in Casale Monferrato, Italy willuse call sign IK1SLD to serve as the ARISS relay amateur radio ground station.Each student asking a question on the ARISS radio will be conferenced in fromhome or social-distanced at school. TheARISS radio contact is scheduled for June 26, 2021 at 11:25 am CEST (Bellême,France) (9:25 am UTC, 5:25 am EDT, 4:25 am CDT, 3:25am MDT, 2:25 am PDT). Threeschools in France will participate in this ARISS contact: Ecole de Nocé, Pôlescolaire Igé/Le Gué de la Chaine and Ecole publique de Bellême. These are ruralschools about 90 miles west of Paris and will involve about 360 students, age 6– 15 years old. The schools have partnered with the amateur radio club(callsign F4KLQ) in preparation for this contact. Student-members of the hamclub receive training from the adult members who have knowledge in the fieldsof radio, aeronautical, and the space sciences. Ham radio workshops include thetopics: Orne Sky Sat, the Yaourtocom 2000, SSTV, Morse code, radiocommunication, and radio directional finding. MIR-SAT1 news

Dear All, 1) Thanks to all to who captured the signals of MIR-SAT1 and uploaded data to Satnogs DB, this is really useful to the MIR-SAT1 team. 2) 10 successful participants for the Platinum Award have been selected for having successfully uploaded at least a valid frame to Satnogs DB and applied for same, certificates will be issued and announcement of the winners will be published soon. 3) However, many have uploaded data to Satnogs but have not applied for the Award, they can still do so for the Gold certificate and their past upload data still valid, it a first come first serve game. 4) The telemetry frequency which was 4 minutes actually made it harder to decode particularly on low elevation, it is just a coincidence that it was set to 50 seconds for testing purposes when the Gold Award opens today (Platinum closed today). 5) The satellite is in good health and commissioning tests are being performed presently by the MIR-SAT1 team. 6) Digipeater and image broadcast activation date not yet decided as 5) above must be completed successfully and also having some more data about power available for same. I’ve looked at a myriad of resources and found everything & anything on MIR-SAT1 EXCEPT some Keps. They don’t seem to be posted on the typical sources under that name, is there some other Object Name I should be looking for? PacsatGround station Version 0.42

I have released an updated version of the Pacsat Ground station which now does a better job displaying the decoded beacons from Mir-Sat-1. It also fixes several small bugs in the conversions and in decodes. This also fixes a bug that impacts FalconSat-3 file downloads in some cases. Nasabare Keps for SatPC32 not functioning

Mir-Sat-1 Deployment from ISS Tuesday Morning

Mir-Sat-1 will be deployed from the ISS Tuesday at 10.55 UTC by JAXA. This satellite will support an AX25 digipeter and images broadcast with the pacsat protocol. The images will be taken by its camera and stored in the onboard file system. Amateur stations will be able to request the directory of files and request the broadcast of images using a suitable ground station. Many thanks to Jean Marc and the amateurs on Mauritius for collaborating and getting Amateur Radio included on this mission. I have updated the Pacsat ground station to support Mir-Sat-1. See my post here: https://www.g0kla.com/workbench/2021-06-18.php. If you use a GNU Radio tool chain then Dani has updated gr-satellites to support Mir-Sat-1. SatNogs is adding Mir-Sat-1 to its decoders and will also store the received telemetry. If you come up with your own decoder then please forward to SatNogs. Use the ISS Keps initially to track it.
