These evenings RAFT is very strong over Europe. If you can work the APRS digipeater, try to get RAFT speaking ! Voice Contest rules: 1 point for each APRS message you get spoken by RAFT or ANDE 2 points for each message to another HAM you get spoken by RAFT or ANDE Examples: "DK3WN says Hello Europe" will give 1 point "PE1ITR says DK3WN 59" will give 2 points Enrollment is simple: - email the mp3 recording to pa3guo @ amsat.org (max 200kb, edit yourself !) - attach a picture of yourself/shack/station (optional, pls keep filesize small) - include the digipeated packet & timestamp (to identify RAFT or ANDE) VOICE Contest website with mp3's of current submissions: http://home.vianetworks.nl/users/hamoen/pa3guo/voice.html Waiting for the first mp3 from outside Europe ! Just as an FYI to ANDE users: Although ANDE is much stronger in downlink signal compared to RAFT, you need to be aware that its spoken messages are transmitted at a lower output power. So do not tune up the squelch too much when you work ANDE, as you will hear the APRS transmissions, but may miss the audio/voice transmissions. Good luck ! Dear all, These days RAFT is very strong during its evening passess over Europe. QSL Bureau in the works???

A few weeks ago I posted a request for volunteers to see if we could restart the AMSAT QSL Bureau. I've had a few responses to my request, and a number of us have been discussing this since then. Our discussions so far have been focused on trying to develop an operations concept that we could present to AMSAT for their approval, and we've made a lot of progress. AO-51 software crash tonight

The command team has reported that the satellite software crashed tonight (~0100Z, 13FEB07) after uploading a new housekeeping program. It will take a few days at minimum to reload and get the repeater back on the air. Mike, Gould and Jim have made leaps and bounds of progress on improving the satellite software. When finished and loaded we will release descriptions of the improvements made and how they will work. I have some pretty interesting WX today.. very ovrcst, sleet and snow. No ice on antennas (yet). I did not hear AO-51 on this last pass at all. I was wondering if it was being worked on.. or is it possible that the WX completly blocked the Downlink. I typically have a very very srtong sig from AO-51 not that s-units are accurate.. but between s6-s8 is typical for me. -Steve Raas N2JDQ FN20vg
