Someone who's watching the last BB post and reactions just send me a note where he's making reference to the actual mood down the border. The situation is so trouble that many are loosing their natural social guidelines. He strongly feel that many irrational comments are a strong indicator that some are in the early stages of depression. You may be depressed if you're experiencing: * A major drop in your mood that lasts most of the day and is consistently low for two weeks or more. * A loss of interest in things you normally love to do. * Irritability at home or at work. (I added on the internet) * Grudges against people you perceive have wronged you. * A desire to avoid other people. (I added fltering their messages) * Overwhelming feelings of sadness or grief. * Unreasonable feelings of guilt. How is depression treated? Those who realize they are suffering from depression benefit from professional counseling and - possibly - medication. There is a wide range of anti- depressants on the market that have been approved in the treatment of depression. Medication does not normally "cure" depression. But it can help people get through their daily routines. As usual the first steps is to admit that we have a problem, but what will happen with those who does not want to listen prefering to discard some post on the BB? People- Most Hams know the way to deal with someone who is interrupting a repeater with continuous garbage is TO IGNORE him or her. Pretty soon they get bored and leave. Why is it so difficult for so many people on this bb to understand Monsieur Leblanc is playing with you? He apparently loves the attention and isn't reluctant to make some of the inflammatory statements he has posted recently and in the past. Banning him from the bb [impossible to do anyway]or "filtering" his posts is unnecessary [you don't want to do that either because sometimes his comments are worthwhile]. JUST DON'T RESPOND TO HIS IRRITATING REMARKS; IGNORE HIM. Sooner or later he will tire of his game. However, if you are in the North then you need to generate a 'south pole' to repel the satellite. -Remember, the geographic north pole is a magnetic south pole- That's why the north pole of your compass points towards it. 73 David

How do you generate a north or south 'pole' in isolation? Probably not possible so you would generate opposing forces that cancel. I realise that you can have one pole closer to the earth than the other, but given that the relative sizes makes the satellites magnet 'infinately small' in comparison to the earth I think the forces would be virtually equal and opposite. Hence magnetorquing can generate rotational forces but not 'thrusting' type forces. Sound reasonable? 73 David

Petition to block Luc from the -bb

I propose that all who are tired of this individual poisoning what is otherwise a peaceful and productive environment with his abusive and slanderous posts against an organization that I for one am proud to be part of and will continue to support. Sign this petition or make it be known in some fashion that you are tired of this kind of behavior and that Luc Leblanc VE2DWE be blocked from the AMSAT and all affiliated -bb systems. Greetings to all! For those that know me, you will remember me as a condo dweller in McLean Virginia, just outside Washington DC. Satellite operations were virtually impossible, with just a discone on my balcony, 140ft AGL. So, I restricted my satellite operations to Field Day, when I helped the local club to cobble together a satellite station, to get the bonus points and to thrill the onlookers when the Az/El mount started stepping across the sky. Well, my situation has changed. I'm now back in Kingston Jamaica where I spent three delightful years in the past (2001-2004). In the next few weeks, I expect to know whether this will be a long term assignment. If it is (and I expect it to be), I shall be moving forward quickly to build a satellite station, basically from the ground up, to operate the existing LEOs. So I'll be activating 6Y5 on the sats shortly. Meanwhile, I'm unsubscribing from the BB, given the recent change of focus of the messages. :-( If anyone needs/wants 6Y5 on satellite, please contact me offlist, as I'll be unsubscribing from the BB with immediate effect. 73 Iain KI4HLV/6Y5 Kingston, Jamaica
