Many thanks to all who responded to the question
I asked earlier today, on behalf of friend Mike, 2E0VWK,
who made his first satellite QSO today.
I have forwarded all your replies on to Mike for his perusal
and subsequent decision.
Thank you Team.

Hi Stephen (and the list),
I use two 706 radios for satellite work, a MKI and a MKIIg. I've had
fantastic results, and the MKI is a
big upgrade from my old Icom 245 that I used in the AO-40 days. Plus, now
I'm equipped for mode K
in case RS-12/13 comes back to life.. hi hi I DO miss that bird - I
used to really enjoy mode T..
I use InstantTrack with InstantTune to control my two radios via a homebrew
MAX232 interface. As someone else
mentioned, a single interface will control up to four Icom radios, using one
serial port. I mounted just one 1/8" jack
on my interface, but you can use simple audio y-adapters as necessary for
multiple radios.
I built my MAX232 interface for about $10-$15, and it's an easy project that
anyone can build. As a side benefit, I found
that this same interface can program my Yaesu VX5r and EF Johnson commercial
radios..

73 for now. Happy new year to all of my friends around the world and hope to
work you all via satellite many times in 2007.

I am considering using a Icom CT-16 Sat Interface with two IC-706MKIIG radios. I do not have a CT-16 and want to know if this is the best route or are there other after market interfaces or software that can be used or plans for a homebrew interface. Hard to find a used CT-16 so far on the internet. I assume that I will also need a Icom CT-17 Level Converter or one of the equivalent models out there made by other hams. Appreciate any advice. 73, Robert W6RQR
Due to a problem with the onboard software the BBS on AO-51 has been turned
off. It will remain off until a command station can do a full reload,
probably sometime after January 1. When the reload begins, the repeater will
also be off until it is finished. Sorry for the inconvenience.

ANDE and RAFT seem OK.
I am further relaxing the restrictions from now through 1 January for further experimentation. But! It is very important that ALL user packets CEASE on 2 January.
We must have a clear channel on 2 January to try to recover PCSAT-1 to full operation. Once we have her recovered, we will then re-authorize USER access to all three satellites. They all operate on 145.825 simplex.
and have updated the user service agreement to reflect these changes:
LIMITED USER digipeating is authorized:
1) ATTENDED operations ONLY
2) Low Dutycyle only. Say once per minute per station
3) NO DIGIPEATING VIA RAFT AT NIGHT
4) Use paths of UNPROTO APRS VIA ANDE-1 or VIA RAFT
5) or the other aliases ARISS, or APRSAT, or WIDE2-2
*) UNATTENDED BEACONS ARE NOT AUTHORIZED.

Beam antennas appear to be required except during the middle of a high overhead pass. Please work on your receive capablity and measure your success by how many packets
you can RECEIVE, not by how many times you can hit the bird.
Pace yourselves
Enjoy.

Hi Chaps,
Does anyone know if Genesat-1 telemetry is still wanted.
The experiment finished a few days ago but I am still getting a good stream of data packets.
All the Best for New Year
