Hello It seems I have been here before. Claiming a senior moment, here we go again. A computer I use in the ham shack has Win 98 on it and thinks we are now in standard time. How do I fix it (again). Using IT for tracking. 73 Bob W7LRD -- "if this were easy, everyone would be doing it"

Icom IC-910H audio out on mic connector

I plugged in my Heil headset which I use on my Icom IC-756 into the mic connector on my Icom IC-910H. I got no audio output on the headset with any SET option that seemed to apply. I reported this to Heil and got the following reply: "Yes, Ron, they removed the RX audio from this one model, and we're not sure why! No menu thing is available, but there may be a jumper or something inside that Icom can help you find. Sorry about this--it caught us by surprise, as well, that they would change this one model." The schematic shows a signal AFO going to pin-8 of the Mic connector and the pinout on page 15 of the manual shows "AF OUT (varies with [AF]) on pin 8. Has anyone used the audio output from the mic connector? Was there any "trick?" Ron W5RKN

AO-51 mode?

Hi folks, I keep seeing postings about AO-51 being in an SSB/FM mode, but the Control Op's website and Amsat home page both show FM/FM. Did it just change (so I missed it), or is it still in SSB/FM? Hi Tim,Dave, Your points and comments noted - I am afraid that it has been a case on the main birds that it is either "All" or "None". Having worked many of the satellites myself, I felt that perhaps I should just hang in the background and listen only so that others had an opportunity also to ease the pile up problems! However from your feedback it looks as if I should have still been contributing to the activities and making use of the passes. Of course the ISS activity has been a key player during the past month ,however here again the pile ups an uncertain activity appears to be confusing people from the comments on the BBS. AO-51 SSB/FM ... where is everyone?

Hey folks, I hope our AMSAT brethren around the world are enjoying this unique VHF/SSB up - UHF/FM down mode on AO-51 as much as I am. I haven't been as active as I hoped, but intend to be the rest of this week. I saw a post from Alan, WA4SCA, who mentioned "talking to himself" for a pass the other day. This morning on the 12:15-ish UTC pass, I worked Doug, KD8CAO, for my first contact in this mode, then spent the rest of the pass trying to work Alan. My entire station here is manually controlled, including Doppler tuning on both frequencies and tracking the receive side with my handheld Elk log periodic. I'm transmitting through a 0-gain omni mounted on a photo tripod. One of my points is, simply, that if I can make a valid contact using this mode and given my station, I suspect anyone can! The other point is that I generally see a good number of posts when other modes are put online, but very little so far about this one. I don't get it. Where is everyone???? If any of you decide to try a pass that includes EM84 in the footprint, I'll be easy to find. Just listen for the weak-signaled station that doesn't seem able to stay on frequency.
