Used CW Get by UA9OV to capture the 435.215 Morse beacon at approx 20.30 utc Monday. Not able to get every data point but this may help: rs30,?58,?41,sun1, ???, ab6, ? 65, xb66, ap80,?sts66,?sep0,tcon53,ema102,smb68,mrxa2,??,??,??,ibs43,usun1,?sun0,??,itxb6,itxa6. 73 John G7HIA.

Hi all, in the last European pass (around 2220 UTC) I was able to decode 5 beacons. It was an overhead pass with good signals. Yubileiny was NB over me twice tonight and started in cw until she appeared to be about 10/15 degree elevation over Kaluga then she switched into FM/data. I think Mineo is hearing her being commanded from Krasnoyarsk. The default appears to be the cw beacon, but either the tlm could be slightly varied or maybe I don't have the full set yet (Rolf DK2ZF recorded a TAB value). Maybe it's my CW! She's then commanded on to FM and I think this is a downloaded data dump. It's difficult to know what the data is without the format. Simon HB9DRV has suggested Throb 4 for the link. That doesn't work for me in MixW - only garbage - but I think it's more likely to be a data dump than wefax although as Domenico I8CVS has pointed out there are certainly strong synch pulses at 2400 Hz (I get vague shapes from wx2img, probably the product of my fevered mind!!); does anyone know if could be PCM/FM as used on other Russian spacecraft? I think she is not yet ready for the demo of sstv and other historical data. The website said she needed 4 days to setup so maybe we're getting close. I am also concerned about the lack of charge current (from what I read into the tlm, based on RS22). Could be a sensor problem or misread. David G0MRF comments that looking at the pictures she probably has 16.2 volts on board under a load, hence us160 /10 = 16v. Kantronics 9612+ Modem Mode

Hi, I've just acquired a 9612+ I can get it into modem mode at 1200 baud. Does anyone know if / how it can be used at 9600 baud in modem mode when using port 2. 73 Dave

RS-30: 435.215 vs 435.315 TX power

I have the impression that in case .315 has max output, .215 has low output power (sometimes) .315 has low output, .215 has high output power (sometimes) but that both .215 and .315 can be very strong. For example, 315 was relative weak (FM) for a while, and at that time .215 was very load with CW. Object C is now best fit here. Henk, PA3GUO

Orbit types

Hi all, How can I tell what type an orbit a satellite is in, say based on Orbitron? I can see that RS-30 appears to have 100% sunlight and orbits over the Polar region, so one assumes a Polar Orbit?? Is it as simple as that, I have a talk to give to a scout group, and wanted to make it a bit more interactive... Does the amount of sunlight have a different name as well?? Hopefully this makes sense and isn't too stupid! Thanks.. Chris

Strange Signals from Yubileiny

Is this a possible explanation for the "strange" signals from Yubileiny. I found it on that well konw source of reliable information WIKIPEDIA The satellite will broadcast audio and video about the history of the Soviet and Russian space programmes, as well as signals imitating those broadcast by Sputnik 1.[2] These signals are intended for reciept by Amateur radio enthusiasts. 73 John G7HIA

Yubileiny RS30 telemetry

Just listened to RS30 for the first time on 435.315 ish There's an interesting data mode that follows the short periods of CW telemetry. It appears to comprise of data being transmitted at 4800 bps in some form of 'packet' at around 4 times a second. I'm not good with data modes but that's an assumption based on a transmission which has a carrier in the center with peaks of energy at plus and minus 2400 Hz but with the whole 4800 bandwidth occupied. Does that sound right? (Recorded using spectran) As the signal is transmitted you can count another 'rate' which works out at 250mS. Too wide for my radio on SSB. If it's a picture, I wonder how it's decoded? There's an overhead pass in Europe with AOS at 17.09 and LOS at 17.32. Will try FM next time. David G0MRF
