Wednesday 7-30-08 To All: For Sale - "TrakBox" Satellite tracker, antenna rotor controller for stand alone operation. (JARL design, TAPR kit) The trakbox is a self-contained, stand-alone rotor/radio control for use with your satellite stations. Select the satellite you wish to track from a front panel control and the TrakBox will steer your antennas in both azimuth and elevation to track the selected satellite when it is or above your horizon. In addition, if you have a radio with a computer interface, the TrakBox will tune your transmitter and receiver and correct them for doppler shift. TrakBox is set up to directly interface to Kenpro, Emmoto, and Yaesu dual-axis rotators which include a computer interface. Trakbox includes a serial port to allow you to set the real-time clock (which is battery backed), your station location (latitude, longitude and elevation) and the keplerian elements for the satellites you are interested in (up to 40 satellites may be loaded, and the elements may be uploaded in ASCII in either the AMSAT or NASA formats). A two-line LCD display is updated every second, showing the azimuth and elevation of a satellite, along with the satellite ID and GMT. hi folks. I found something about the bandpass filter settings with the dsp-2 unit on the ft 857. when i clicked dpf it says 6000 hz for the cutoff. is this maybe why i am not copying 9000 baud with this rig. should this be another settings? tks in advance kc8gkf

hi folks, was just reading on the net that my ft 857 runs afsk only. does this mean i will not be able to copy fsk 9600 baud sat downlink? still learning the fsk,psk,afsk stuff Like I said, my faraway station did copy me but I was not able to copy him. hmm any way to modify it? kc8gkf

DO-64 and Wisp

Hi to the list, I am using wisp and would like to add the DO-64. I have added it as keplerians but I cannot get it work with the Rascal program when the bird comes in AOS. I have substitute in the scheduling Tab, the line: C:\Wisp\MSPE.EXE %S With the line: C:\Rascl\RASCAL.JAR But when the DO-64 comes in AOS the program do not run and I get the following GSC error: Error running program.GSC was unable to find the program associated with this Satellite, or there was an error while running it. I've tried also with this line in the command above: C:\Rascl\RASCAL.JAR %S But get the same results. Upcoming Scotland/Shetlands trip

I'll be in Scotland from 13 August through 2 September, with 16 August through 21 August 08 (1200Z) in the Shetland Islands. I'll primarily be trying to work the eastern Canada and northeastern parts of the US, and we'll see about Continental passes (as i've had rather disappoiting results trying to operate from France on two previous occasions). I will be using an antenna similar in characteristics to an 'Arrow' and run QRP. If i've figured this correctly, likely grid squares include IO66, IO75, IO76, IO77, IO85, IO86 and IP90; and possible grids are IO67, IO78, IO87, IO88 and IO99. I'll use what is customary in each region, that is, a four-way exchange with six character grid squares working Europe and the quicker exchange with four character grids expected in North America (in order to maximize satellite usage). I may post specifics to the AMSAT-BB if Internet access is convenient while i'm over there. Note that i won't be quite as active as on my two recent road trips as i won't be traveling solo (and have no idea what my western horizons will look like). Hi Ib, thank you very much for your observations, I presume that the frequency offset of 9kHz you state takes Doppler into account? W.r.t. signal strength, it certainly helps a lot to switch polarization, both the uplink and downlink antennas on the spacecraft are turnstile antennas, which have circular polarization, which is max. circular when the long axis of the satellite is in your direction. Since the circularity / axial ratio of the downlink antennas is very good (the uplink is somewhat worse), listening on the opposite circular polarization (provided that you use circular antennas on your side of course) may wipe out the signal completely:) 73 & hope to work you soon via DO-64 Wouter PE4WJ

Delfi-C3 pass 0846 UTC over Denmark

Hi all, The transponder frequency seems to stabilize at + 9 kHz for the uplink like Stefan VE4NSA observed in his e-mail. As I have written before it can be up to + 15 kHz when it is just turned on - and then it goes down 2 - 3 kHz during the pass. During this pass the frequency stayed at the + 9 kHz - no drift. Only problem was a very small signal from the satellite. Thanks for a new satellite to all at Delfts. By the way heard G7HIA testing but very weak. 73 OZ1MY Ib
