Hi All, I need an help please, I am trying to use the RigExpert Standard to TX on the Falconsat. I am noticing that it is a bit hard to get in the Satellite and it seems the cause is that the Rixexpert TX Tones are a bit Low. I am using it With the Kenwood TS-2000X to TX to the Satellite while to RX I am using The Funcube Dongle Pro Plus with UZ7HO's High-Speed SoundModem and the PacSat Ground Station. Is there any possibility to increase the TX Tones? Or some settings to do in the Radio? On the Radio I have the #50F DATA TRANSFER RATE set to 9600bps. Falconsat- sound card interfaces

If you are using an external sound card interface to tx 9600bps to Falconsat with a base transceiver, can you please provide details- ie, homebrew, commercial. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the older Signalink isolation transformers attenuate most or all of the 9600bps data stream. Some ops have reported being able to install a jumper or other connection in their radio’s data port to somehow avoid the Signalink datastream attenuation. Unfortunately I have not determined if such a modification is possible on my TS2kx. And I want to retain all functionality for other dig modes and 1200 aprs. So if I’m left with having to obtain another external sound card interface, fine, but I want to be sure it will definitely do the trick. Of course, if someone has more specifics on such a modification for the TS2K, then by all means please provide details. Mark N8MH mentioned having “bypassed” the transformers in his Signalink before he went to a TNC, which makes me wonder if it could be as simple as installing a microswitch in the Signalink and some bypass circuitry. Big files on Falconsat-3

I've successfully been working the Falconsat-3 PBBS, downloading files and uploading text messages. However, when I try to upload a bigger file, like an image, I can't get it to complete even across a number of passes. I've been trying to upload a 20 kB jpeg, but the most I can get uploaded is around 18%. Some passes it doesn't start to upload anything, even though I'm capturing other data coming down and it acknowledges my callsign on the system. After a few unsuccessful passes, it starts to upload again from 0%. I'm trying to figure out which part of the link is the problem. I switch from my TH-D72 to my TM-V710 so that the uplink is 50W, so maybe my downlink is not consistent enough to hold the connection? My UHF side is only 5 elements, so maybe not as much gain as others are using. Does it restart the upload from scratch because of how the satellite software is written or is it something with the ground station software? Any advice would be appreciated. -Stephen N8URE

Howdy gang, Well, my calculations were correct. FO-29 came into view up the east coast at 0257 GMT 28 March . I called CQ on CW three times slowly and had a great down link. It got louder, so I called CQ four times on voice also with a nice downlink. It went LOS at 0307 GMT No one responded to my calls but it was sure nice to hear the old bird sounding that good for just 10 minutes or so. A few memories when it was in its hay day !!!! This has thrown up some interesting thermal responses within the satellite, but nothing threatening. The battery temperatures have gone down in response to the power amplifier consuming and dissipating more energy. The FCC, as part of a lengthy Second Report and Order (R&O) for commercial licensing of 3.45 – 3.55 GHz adopted on March 17, agreed with ARRL that continued access by amateur radio to 3.3 – 3.45 GHz should be allowed until consideration of the 3.1-3.45 GHz spectrum in a later proceeding. The FCC action in WT Docket 19-348 represents a partial — and temporary — reprieve from the FCC’s December 2019 proposal to remove amateur radio from the entire band, and it makes available an additional 50 megahertz than an FCC proposal last fall to allow amateur temporary use of 3.3 – 3.4 GHz. This allows “amateur operations to continue in the lower portion of the band while the [FCC and federal government users] continue to analyze whether that spectrum can be reallocated for flexible use,” the FCC said. using TS2K on FS-3-problem partly solved

To Ryan, Mark, Christy and others whose information proved very helpful. I solved the receive issue by simply changing the Menu 50 submenu to 9600 from 1200. Instant decodes. Tx is another issue. Listening to my signal on my D7 HT, I hear almost no digital “whoosh”, just carrier. True to Ryan’s and Mark’s info re filtering in the Signalink attenuating the 9600 data stream, a call to a Signalink tech confirmed that the older Signalinks (with the red transformers like mine) probably do not pass enough 9600 data to be useful. However, the newer Signalinks reportedly do a better job and indeed ops are using them. I prefer to not have to buy a new SL and will do some online searching for an alternative interface or other solution (but not a physical TNC). UVQSat more than 1 000 000 frames received, the transponder test will continue..

Dear More than 1 200 000 frames have been received on the AMSAT-F ( https://amsat.electrolab.fr/) experimental database this week. It is possible to visualize the data via an online Dashboard: ( https://amsat.electrolab.fr/grafana/d/ujwd-SaMz/uvsqsat?orgId=1) These data were collected by more than 50 stations in the world via the UVSQsat decoder software. The software allows to send the data to the AMSAT-F and Satnogs databases. The continuous reception of telemetry is valuable to the project team that is piloting the satellite. Although the downloading of large amounts of data is done over Europe, this also took place over Japan with the help of Japanese radio amateurs. The commissioning phase has been successfully completed.
