Greetings, The FO-29 (V/U) transponder was off between 21:27 to 21:43 UTC 2007 April 20 when monitored from FM18. The 70-cm beacon was not heard no seen on an audio time-frequency spectrum. I captured telemetry yesterday 2007 Apr. 19 at around 20:30 UTC for a few minutes and nothing seems out-of-the-ordinary in the values. The analog TX power has fluctuated the last few months between about 250-mw to about 1000-mw. Solution to cubesat tracking

To all Cubesat designers on the bb, I find it very hard and difficult to track and find the cubesat beacons. The reason is they are transmitting short packets once every 2 or 5 minutes. I was thinking on a simple solution to this problem. Why not running the beacons with continues wave on very low power? Say 2 ~ 4 milliwatt or so. On a packet burst the beacon can switch on high power, but in between its switching back to low power cw. This way its not doing to much on the cubesats power budget and it would easy to track. This idea is already been tested succesfull. The last few months we are doing tests with the 4 milliwatt 216.980MHz beacon on RAFT. Signals received on a 10 el yagi are very good. I could track the raft milliwatt beacon back to 3 degrees above the horizon with realtime dsp. FO-29

I did not hear FO-29 during orbit 52714. Last Tuesday afternoon I was working the satellite from the Holland ARC clubhouse and noticed that my downlinked signal was intermittent and FMing quite severely. At first I attributed this to the rig (an old Kenwood TS-700A with mechanical tuning) but listening "on the input" revealed my uplink signal to be pure and steady. Charles was active yesterday on voice on the 6pm EDT pass over the central US. You may want to listen again today. I worked him mobile with an FT100D in the car, mobile. Hi All, To day 20 april FO-29 was OFF during the ascending orbit 52710 over Europe No the 435.795 MHz CW beacon was heard nor the Voice/CW mode JA transponder was operating and not the usual translated noise was received and FO-29 was in sun light I will monitor the next available orbits 52711 and 52712 over the mediterranean and the atlantic ocean Beginning from orbit 52713 FO-29 will be in range with the USA Please monitor and send reports. 73" de i8CVS Domenico

I'm not sure if I'm just really bad at aiming my antennas ior if 51 was at a bad angle but I was trying to track the 51 pass which came by my location at about 14:11 UTC and there was only one point where I think I heard it. I was looking for it in the area where I thought it might be and I caught a point in the middle of the pass when I heard a little bit of a signal quieting and I thought I heard voices bolew the noise floor and then I subsequently lost it. does anyone know if this was a bad pass or just a bad operator? -Steve VA3SAX

Hi All, To day 20 april FO-29 was OFF again during the ascending orbit 52711 over Europe No 435.795 MHz CW beacon was heard nor the Voice/CW mode JA transponder was operating and not the usual translated noise was received and FO-29 was in sun light I see that my friend Mak SV1BSX noted the same ! I will monitor the next to day available orbit 52712 over the atlantic ocean Beginning from orbit 52713 FO-29 will be in range with the USA Hopefully FO-29 is in a safe mode ?..........and no majoir problems arises but in the last few days signals were not strong as usually.
